Oliver referee

Post by IanMcL » Sat Oct 03, 2020 2:20 pm

2 hardly a touch penalties to Chelsea. Laughable. Virtually nothing, other than the Chelsea players rolled over purposely.

Commentator on first says, "minimal contact but Abraham felt it, so entitled to go down".

Minimal in the extreme!

2nd. Players both go for ball one rolls over. Not even sure they touched!

Other end Ayew shoved and goes down..."not enough in it for me" says commentator!

Idiots approving prem corruption.

Modern game, you referee to your employer's instructions. Simple enough, otherwise you could get the push. They are refereeing to FIFA directives at this level and those at the top ot the tree are also on the UEFA top lsit and have to referee accordingly.
Fans need to get used to it --the game has changed beyond recognition and will change even further to the beat of David Elleray and his IFAB compatriots. I can't wait for March to see the next set of La changes.

It's not only Covid driving fans away it's also the interference with the rules.

David Elleray has overseen 178 changes to the Laws in his capacity of Technical Director of IFAB since May 2016!

Europe is not as soft, from what I have seen. The refs wave them away. Oliver never even paused and yet clearly Abraham just rolled over.

Shame there cant be another dozen changes, and that would be just getting rid of the referee's that are not good enough.

As soon as it becomes a job for the boys and there's no punishment for poor performance, its game over

Penalty confirmed by VAR which is what the modern fan wants, therefore, the official can never be wrong.
Do I agree with all that? Do I hell, however, that is the way that it is and forever shall be.

FIFA are trying to ensure that the same interpretation of the Laws of the Game is the same in every country and, at the present time, it is English football that is way out of line on so many counts.
My own interpretation of FIFA's quest is that we have the Rest of the World Interpretation, The European interpretation, the English interpretation, the PL interpretation and the VAR interpretation ------good isn't it?
Football used to be such a simple game, particularly before the digital age. Enjoy!

The “entitled to go down” comments infuriate me. That nonsense is the problem!

Even worse after Chris Wood not getting one last week after a push in the back and a knee to the arse.

This season, the three Category 1 referees as far as UEFA are concerned have given a total of 16 penalties in the 14 games in which they have officiated.
From the start of 2020, the same three referees have officiated at a total of 61 matches and gave 9 penalties.

Try telling me that they have not been given a directive!
