Helicopter landed on Lidl car park I believe and transferred to Liverpool. Stabbed half a dozen times in chest.

Used to play football with the lad in question. Not really seen him since we played for the same team some time ago. No idea what’s happened but hope he’s ok. Said before anyone who carries a knife should get ten years.

Friends as I understand it. The perpetrator recently released from prison. Some of this might not be accurate...chinese whispers. So will keep it anonymous also.

Stabbed 5 times - gotta have keyhole to a stab wound that got his spleen

Serious but stable condition

Thankfully it hasn’t ended even worse than it could have.

This is true and the lad wants to go back to prison. Committed the crime, lit a fag and handed himself in

I just cannot comprehend how someone could stab another person once, let alone five times.

Hopefully the victim has a quick and full recovery.

Coming to something when criminals would rather be in prison! Or commit crimes just so they can be returned?

Wish the victim a full & speedy recovery.

The return of tougher jails and or capital punishment will stop these crimes being committed or certainly reduce them. He's already had 6 years inside and clearly decided life is easier in prison than it is in the real world.

Yes, remember when prisons were tougher, and we had the death penalty, and there was no violent crime at all.

Good times.

The United States of America has zero violent crime thanks to their death penalties.

Shocking incident, hopefully the lad will pull through and make a full recovery.

They are friends and were drinking together both the day before and on the day of the incident together.

The lad who committed the crime has already served 5 years in 2002 for the Burnley race riots, then a further 6 and half years for mugging someone and holding a gun to the victims head, before turning it on the police threatening to shoot them.
So no stranger to prison and obviously the previous sentences not a deterrent

It's just scary to think that could happen in a pub in the middle of the day.
How many of us go out for a day on the beer and to watch football, its just crazy to think it can go from quiet beers on a Sunday to a major life threatening incident.

Very true it's the only way, it's crazy the public can't have a say & yet we've got to live in fear when dangerous people get released, a prison shd be 4 walls, a mattress & toilet & bread & water.

Based on his previous, coupled with this incident, the courts should have the power to lock him up indefinitely.

He clearly isn't going to change.

Don’t disagree with this despite the mocking you will get. Same for the murder on colne road. Horrific.

I’m not an advocate of capital punishment. But when you think of the millions we will spend to lock these insane cowards up. Who have no hope or even desire to reform, what’s the alternative?

We could use them as Covid vaccine guinea pigs.

I'd lock them up in a 4 by 4 with no sunlight again. Force feed them and let them drive themselves insane.

Surely a tougher punishment than killing them? That's the easy way out.

I think the biggest thing is to be careful about where and who you drink with. That can’t eliminate all risk. But you can’t control these nutcases but you can avoid the places and situations they’re likely to be.

It works for some, not for others.

Some people you can try with as much as you'd like, throw whatever money you can, but in some instances people are just bad and will remain so.

If it's true about this lads past form then he's gradually gotten worse.

***** him, time to lock him up for a very long time because he will kill next time if his current victim doesn't succumb to his injuries.

I'm quietly confident that I never tried to suggest that it would work for everyone, or even in this case. But if you want to argue against what I said by pretending I did then you go for it.

I do think the 3 crimes and your in forever is a great idea, would cost tax payers more and possibly save money as well in reduced cases in court over time.

I served on 4 juries last year, one case was his 32 conviction for 60 offences, he was the one that looked like friends actor Schwimmer. He got 9 months but as had been on remand for 9 months he was released two days after his conviction. Kind of felt pointless.

Here we go

Some people are just bad, they're always going to be no matter how nice you try to be to them, or treat them or put them on courses.

Some people just need to be locked up for good but you'll have to bat that one around with someone who can be bothered to discuss it further with you.

Does it need more money?
Yes.

Does the money that's spent need to get better results?
Yes.

Have fun.

Exactly my point.

There are people with more offences and convictions wandering around committing more offences.

3 strikes and you're inside for a long while is a fab idea.
