14/1 for top 10 finish

Post by andyh » Mon Oct 05, 2020 9:41 pm

I know with all the doom and gloom on here a top 10 finish looks unlikely but I’m surprised the odds are so generous so early in the season.

Before a ball was kicked in the PL Burnley were just 7/2 for a top half finish (William Hill).

Is that in the Championship next season? I'll bite your hand off for 17th now, and even that looks tough after another poor window, and the strong chance SD might not stick around.

Sorry you think 14/1 is generous from the bookies? Try making it around 35/1 and then we might be hitting generous.

7/4 for relegation tells the story. Third favs behind Fulham and West Brom.

I got 7/1 last year in September. Might have a nibble at 14s with some of my winnings.

Indeed, it tells the story that we're more likely to stay up than be relegated.

I work that out because 7 is a bigger number than 4. Do you know how odds work?

Sheffield United are 2/1 so does that mean they have more chance of survival or less than us. Can’t wait for this reply

you could employ a strategy of laying the odds now and backing when they increase later - securing a profit...

the only time you will lose is if they suddenly take off and start showing some consistency where the 14-1 price would then shorten and you would end up making a loss if you were to back at a shorter price.
