Jack Wiltshire....

Post by criminalclaret » Mon Oct 05, 2020 9:41 pm

... just terminated his contract at West Ham.

I could certainly see him filling the gap in midfield and Dyche could get the better of him (apart from his obvious injury history). Cheaper than buying outright, though wages would be a sticking point.

Thoughts on seeing him in a proper claret and blue shirt?

With his injury record the only sane offer would be a pay as you play. But I think in the past he's always said he wants to stay down south because of his family

He's finished at the top level, probably the top 4.

He's never going to be a player who can guarantee you enough game time to justify his wages.

Bags of ability, but he's made of paper, nevermind glass.

I'll be surprised if any club offers him more than a year and any serious money.

Coaching should be his next step.

Never been a great fan tbh, BUT with The window we've just had I'd definitely be taking a punt as a he's a "free agent". I'd be getting Boden out the pub as we speak!!

From all the out-of-contract players he is one that would remotely fit the bill at Turf Moor. Dyche loves a project.

You can't argue about wages when you get them on a free.

We scraped the barrel with Lennon, could do a lot worse that Wiltshire if I'm honest

A project... As in the Bionic man style project?
That's what it would take for Wilshere to get fit enough to play a full PL season.

Looked like he was going to be a great player at one stage. Always remember him playing against Barca as a young kid and more than holding his own against Xavi and Iniesta. Funny how things turn out.

If he can’t get fit and motivated enough for Arsenal or West Ham the team he supports we have no chance. I’d rather jack rodwell!

I do feel sorry for the lad, must be hard work constantly getting yourself back to fitness and competing for a spot. Not his fault and you feel for the likes of him, Joey, Brady, Defour who wasted much of their early talent through no fault of their own.

It's worth an enquiry at least. I mean, we literally don't have to negotiate with another club over 50 pence difference

It can't get much worse for us squad wise at the moment, theres no options

He was on £100k a week at West Ham.

He ain't gonna drop his wages low enough for us and in all honesty he isn't good enough, not even to enquire about.

He's done, finished and will never regain full fitness for the top flight.
256 appearances at club level since 2008, and a large chunk of those will be as sub.

No thanks.

He claims to have been fit for the past 8 months, maybe he has but for whatever reason Moyes hasn't played him, and let's be honest West Ham aren't blessed with riches in midfield, this stat worries me though.

Definitely a busy evening at West Ham as Simon Stone reports that Jack Wilshere has been released after coming to an agreement.

The midfielder made just 19 competitive appearances in two years at the club.

That's an injury record to rival Brady and Defour, plus he'll be on big wages, I'd rather we gave Benson a chance to show his promise, than waste money on Wilshere.

If he's been fit for 8 months, then he's either got an attitude problem, or some sort of contractual trigger they were avoiding which we've all seen at other clubs.

That or they just wanted to give their medical team a break from him so didn't play him to avoid injury

I wonder if he would take £5k a week basic, £5k a week add on if he is available to play and £20k on top of that if he can take a Sean Dyche 95 mins of play....

The Times reports that his contract was paid out £3.3 million, 85% of his contract value. They say £15,000 per week would bring him back to where he was.

I think we could match that - with a bonus for games played and staying in the Premier League. Subject to Sean Dyche wanting the guy, of course.

Question marks over his ability to stay injury free. No question marks over his ability. As per above. On a pay as you play it's a no brainer. Too big a risk otherwise.

Wasn't he due to come on loan just before Coyle did the dirty on us ?.. ended up at Bolton ?
No doubting his talent and eye for a defence splitting pass.
He'd walk into most PL teams but for his injury record.
As said above, a pay-as-you-play deal might tempt some.

I’d take Wilshere, Welbeck and Jose Callejon in a flash, I have no idea their wage demands but I would assume Wilshere isn’t expecting 100k pw anymore given his situation. 50k a week and a small signing on fee if he’s fit

Wilshire needs a positive environment, where he can feel loved, (like Hart did). Given playing time, with no pressure he could potentially still be a good player

I'm sort of in agreement with you, these are the kind of players that Dyche could get the best out of.

None of them have properly fulfilled their early promise.

If he means it and wants to prove he could still be the player he was once touted become, I'd have him.
One season contract, with an option (for BFC) for a further year if it pans out.
But wages much, MUCH less than £50 k pw!
No signing on fee.
Bonus payments for (75%) games played/points won?

If your reading this Jack, give SD a bell & see if he's is interested.
If he's not, good luck..

No need for these bloody agents, eh? :D

Now, let's see how keen Jack's is to play football. ;)

He's been fit because he hasn't played. Can't get injured if you don't play...*taps head* etc etc etc. Get him on a pitch and watch his legs explode.

Can’t think of a reason why he wouldn’t anyway.
