On the bright side

Post by andyh » Tue Oct 06, 2020 7:03 am

We held onto all of our best players.

Our injury position looks to be easing.

When everyone is fit we have a balanced squad.

We’ve got brought in a fair few u23s that might turn out to be good long term investments.

Lets get behind the players we do have.

I did not think we would keep all of Pope, McNeil and Tarkowski at the end of this transfer window. I, like many others, am very disappointed with our own additions but this is a real plus for the club in what could be a very difficult season for us.

Its good to look at the positives after sleeping on things

However Villa, WHU, Newcastle, Brighton, Everton, Southampton, Palace-all finished behind us, and have all improved significantly through buying players. One of the promoted sides Leeds will be the new Sheff Utd / Wolves of recent times

All these clubs are capable of investing again in January. Will we ??

It leaves very little cushion for us. We will be in a dog fight. I hope I am wrong

Why?
We have the same squad with the only significant reduction Of Hendrick
We finished 10th last season and will do again

I must admit that I was dischuffed with a lack of signings from the window part one but We are Burnley and let’s get on with it

How does anyone plan for coronavirus? How long will it be before fans can return? What if it takes 5 years before we can see full stadiums?

These are the real questions the Club are having to ask. Some people sound like they would prefer the club to spand recklessly and risk the club. And if it went bust, then what?

So what can fans do? Well follow the virus advice, be sensible, forget the partying. The sooner the virus is gone, the easier for the Club to plan and move forward. Let’s back the club, support team and manager. Yes, it’s going to be a hard season but have a little faith!

I fully get the previous posts however transfer windows are to improve the team and we haven't done that. The squad is too old and needed some youth. At this rate we're going to be left with a 100 million rebuilding job over a few windows given the age of the squad. Also the fact that dyche and MGs relationship is fractured is definitely another negative. IF we lose either Tarks or Mee over the course of the season we're doomed as we've nobody could enough to step in. I would love to remain optimistic but I can't see anything but relegation this season.

Fair enough, Dom, but I'd prefer to hold until at least until the end of November before even contemplating relegation.
Sure it's going to happen just as sure as any "100 million rebuilding job" isn't going to happen but I really don't get this mass hysteria after just three injury-ravaged games.

So with the players who left and what we got in we only really lost a winger if you look at it .

I agree eddie 3 games is too early however we all give predictions at the start of any season and that is mine but im not basing it on the last 3 games that's for sure. I don't expect us to spend 100 million exactly im just referring to the fact its going to take a lot of money sooner or later to replace the ageing players. Transfer fees are just getting more ridiculous each year so even 100 million over a few windows isn't that unreliastic imo.

Absolutely and there'll come a point where we can't feasibly compete any more. That point off the pitch has been reached long ago and it looks, with one thing or another, that pretty soon we might not be able to compete on it, no matter what miracles Dyche, his staff and the players keep performing.
How soon, we'll see.

On the bright side. Effectively the same squad went on two seven game unbeaten runs since January 19th. Winning 8 of those 14 including beating Leicester and Man Utd and drawing at Liverpool. Just prior to the first of those runs, we'd lost seven times in nine games and looked in trouble. We'll be ok.

I'm not sure you realise how ironic that is, and from someone who regularly insults, belittles and tries to troll/bully posters from behind a keyboard and a username.
There's a reason you make sure you're extra careful about giving away anything about yourself/life.

:D :D extra careful ?

You only have to ask Nathan, having had you pointed out to me previously when you were having your little digs at me next time I see you I will come and sit with you and you can ask as many questions as you like. Genuinely had no idea you had been reading my posts trying to get an insight into my personal life. As we have no immediate games to attend if you have a day out in Lytham in the near future let me know I can buy you a shandy and you can ask then as well.

Eh?
I'm lost as to what you are actually on about.
Rarely read your posts, only ever comment when you insult etc, other than that I scroll past.

I do like Lytham, a nice place I go over quite a lot, but dont drink shandy.

I'm glad you've had me "pointed out" though, it's nice to have a catch up with posters off here, met quite a few down at the cricket etc, always been decent people so far.

I think most can see the positives. It’s still ok to feel fed up with how the club seems to be run these days though isn’t it? I still feel cheesed off this morning.

A win against West Brom should set me straight though.

As in people get involved with extra off site activities, post about their pets, hobbies, go the cricket, help with charities, go to club functions and share them on here.

Seems your main aim ( as mentioned before ) for this site is to have a go at people, something I dont understand.

But next time you have me pointed out and my persona isnt matching my UTC one, whatever that actually means, come say hello I'm a nice guy and always up for a chat on anything, other than NFL or golf.

Not sure what extra activities go on off site, but my spare time I do things either with the Mrs or mates. We have 3 dogs (2 rotties and 1 lab), if I go to the cricket I go to Lancs then have a few drinks in Manchester, I have very little interest in Lancs League cricket. It is a bit like when you see people desperate for school reunions, I find myself thinking why ? if I wanted to know what you were up to we would still be in contact.

I still have a property in the town which I rent out on Dugdale Road, so unless I am needed there or there is a match on I spend very little time in the town. Hope this gives you an insight in to some of my life and why I don't get involved in these off site activities that take place.

Call into JJs next time you're sorting your Dugdale road house out, they have moved into the old Dugdale pub and they do a decent breakfast.

My lab is driving me mad, we are on day 8 of lockdown having the household hit with covid and we can't take him out, so he's suffering massively too with all his built up energy he cannot burn off.

See isnt this far better than being all upset and angry etc.

Yes but with that significant reduction coupled with a stronger league it's a bad bad combination, 2 negative swings.
