R.I.P Eddie Van Halen

Post by fidelcastro » Tue Oct 06, 2020 8:58 pm

Succumbed to throat cancer at the age of 65.

Very sad, he was one of the best.

Sad news indeed saw Van Halen at the Monsters of Rock (Castle Donnington) quite a few years ago (am sure it was 84 but can't be sure 🤔)

RIP Eddie

Not my cup of tea musically but a Clarets connection, even if it was just for the one season.

Just the best! That first album was stunning

I also saw them at Monsters of Rock in 84 and a few years later in Cardiff

Got a signed guitar strap off him in 84! Still got it.

Just seen this news, sadly it's not a shock, he's been fighting cancer for 20 years.

RIP Eddie

I have a guitar that Eddie signed in 96, very sad news, he'd been fighting cancer for years.

might be mistaken Quicknick, but I think you're confusing him with Dave Lee Roth. he was a climber.

EVH played the amazing "Beat It" solo - one of my favourites to teach. The rest of the guitar parts were played by Steve Lukather of Toto fame.

Sad news. My Facebook timeline was full of this last night. I knew he was really poorly but it still came as a shock. One of the most influential guitarists of all time.

It was their first album. Eddie’s guitar playing is immense. It really stood out as a special album when it was released.
