You have to look at tonights game to realise how awful recruitment has been over the years
4 playing for England
Assist for Iceland
Win for NI
Did I miss anything?

Brady scored his penalty
He also played 60 minutes, which hopefully shows he's back on the road to full fitness.

He should have only played 30 but lasted right through extra time too and was still able to knock in his penalty

If you mean we once had Kieran Trippier at right back and Michael Keane in the centre and now we've got Matt Lowton and Kevin Long, then I fully support your point.

That’s absolutely not what I meant.

I'm fairly sure that we had 3 in the N. Ireland team at the same time - McIlroy, Elder and Irvine. It could even have been 4 as Sammy Todd also played for N. Ireland around the same time.

This... not that we should be expecting players of Keane and Trippier's current ability in our side, but the strategy was always to have players who can progress to that level.
In Lowton and Long this is most definitely not the case.

Sure that has happened more recently with, Duff, Lafferty & Jones

Did we have Walters, Ward, Long, Brady all in the squad once? Must have been fairly close

I think you could add Hendrick to the list.

You’re quite right - recruitment used to be good.
It’s now either dog **** or non existent.
