I don’t really understand those who don’t enjoy Christmas. Time off work spent with friends and family enjoying good food and drink. If you don’t enjoy it you’re probably doing it wrong.

It’s a possibility it’s not enjoyed because it’s not celebrated by some people, for jehovah witnesses & suchlike Xmas makes little difference to day to day living.

Expensive.
Enforced.
Over sentimental.
Increased traffic.
I don't get Christmas holidays.

Cromwell had the right idea.

Surely you make of it what you want. It's a shame for those who don't get Christmas day off, but with the bank holidays I think it's fair to say that the vast majority of people have more time off work than usual during Christmas week.

Most people have had most of the year off. I've tried to contact people who have been furloughed for months only to be told that they've gone on holiday. not just once but umpteen times. On this particular occasion we could all do without being forced into another 'lockdown'. Cancel it.

Christmas is a family time, but not everybody has a large family, and many elderly people spend it alone so it will be cancelled for them anyway.

Christmas is cancelled.

I doubt it very much. Poor families spend a small fortune at Xmas and get themselves into a load of debt.

I have never got it why the less well off throw money at their kids at Xmas

And until you've been in that position you won't. I think it's to try and give their kids just one day a year when they don't have to miss out on the things the kids from well off families get, rightly or wrongly.

Anyway, Christmas is a wonderful time of year. The year of 2020 has been truly horrific but hopefully it won't impact Christmas too much. Still lots to enjoy indoors, I hope.

I’ve just had 6 months with my family 24/7, I think I’d rather go to work on Christmas day

Hurrah, something good to come out of this year. Can we cancel it next year as well, and every year after that? While we are at it we should ban every other celebration of a fairy tale like Easter and Halloween as well. We should keep Guy Fawkes night as blowing things up is fun; sitting round a table with family isn’t.

It's not a shame for the people who purposely choose to work Xmas day thus gaining an enormous amount of satisfaction in doing so & extra tips.
