World Mental Health Day
Today is World Mental Health Day. It’s a day that is always relevant and probably even more so this year given the current situation.
If you are struggling at this time then please, please don’t struggle on your own. Please get help, talk to someone. I know from personal experience how difficult things can get. I’m more fortunate than many even though I really do struggle at times.
Please get help if you need it.

An utterly stupid notion of 'mental health problems' written AS the internet pages before one, batter to smithereens one's psyche. 'Get help if you need it'...
Marianne Tw... couldn't have written a more stupid comment.

Re: World Mental Health Day
Far worse things than the internet or lockdown having an effect on people’s mental health.... drugs for instance.
I imagine there will be a notable improvement in people’s mental health going forward.... the stigma of it seems to be breaking away, thanks in no small part to people like Prince William being vocal about it.

It doesn’t really matter how or why, it’s about recognising the illness and getting the support needed.

I made a joke about sketching and the direct line to no audience in particular. Since I made the joke, I have to bend down twice to pick something up. Not by choice but by some kind of motor-neurone interference in my brain.

It's a disability that's not always visible lending to that nature it can largely go unnoticed, I've worked previously with the homeless counseling on a face to face basis & advising, due to Covid mental health services are becoming restricted & inaccessible.

There are a lot of simple things that can help such as a walk in the fresh air every day. Monty Don has coped with mental health issues through gardening. Churchill used to paint pictures when he had days of depression.
Setting up something to look forward to can be a good thing.
Setting up something to achieve and working towards the goal (as long as it is realistic and achievable).
Diet can make a difference. In particular a vitamin D supplement in the winter.
Full spectrum light bulbs in the winter time.

Re: World Mental Health Day
Often you need to treat the underlying cause first & the suggestions you’ve mentioned will help, severe chronic anxiety (GAD) & other phobias often are so debilitating & complex to understand about certain lifestyle changes initially, exercise even walking can be a useful tool.UnderSeige wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 8:55 pmThere are a lot of simple things that can help such as a walk in the fresh air every day. I'm surprised how many celebrities have it judging by the day time tv I've had to endure recently... as above Monty Don a shining example for the genuine sufferers.

There is very little in what your post says that would do anything to help her "service users"
Mild depression and serious mental health issues are miles apart.

A casual friend and work colleague killed himself, I just wish he had called out, none of his friends saw it coming, such a waste.
