Clarets+ - Subscription Cancellation
Clarets+ - Subscription Cancellation
Anyone got any idea as to just how you cancel your subscription? Been on the My Account section but can't find any mention of how to cancel!

There's a link on this page: https://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/packages for Clarets+ terms and conditions, which you would think includes details on how to cancel the subscription, but when I click on the link, nothing happens?

Re: Clarets+ - Subscription Cancellation
It's as though they go out of their way to make it difficult to cancel.
I wonder why they'd do that?

Just cancel the payment at your bank. BFC will soon close your account for you.

Re: Clarets+ - Subscription Cancellation
I found the company being used to pay for Clarets+ in the Automatic Payments section on PayPal. They are called STREAM UK MEDIA SERVICES LIMITED - so I just removed PayPal as the payment method via there.

With the risk of adversely affecting your credit rating... don’t do that

Re: Clarets+ - Subscription Cancellation
Cancelling at the bank won't affect your credit rating, you're paying for a service monthly, normally in advance, you haven't taken anything in credit.
For months I had £4.99 coming out and I couldn't for life of me think what it was, quick call to the bank and cancelled the payment off my debit card and never heard a thing.
Its just like cancelling netflix

Re: Clarets+ - Subscription Cancellation
If you didn’t renew this year then your old subscription will have expired and no payment will be taken as this year it is a different provider. You would need to re register if you wanted to continue.
Re: Clarets+ - Subscription Cancellation
Please dont patronise me. My advice is valid. People generally shouldn’t just stop payments for services without ensuring they’re not going to breach any terms and conditions which may (notice the use of may...) risk affecting their credit rating. I speak from experience, in relation to a 12 month contract that my ex wife stopped payments for, 8 years after my divorce. The fact that I was still financially linked to her because she still lived in our former marital home (for which I had a charge against) meant that my credit rating was affected.
However, feel free to tell anyone to just stop payments and risk whatever they want, that’s actually the bad advice.

I thought the old Clarets Player had been free for a couple of years prior to this new version.

Re: Clarets+ - Subscription Cancellation
I think the point is that signing up to a service such as this isn’t a 12 month contract. It’s a rolling contract that you’re free to leave at any time.Zlatan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 9:31 pmPlease dont patronise me. My advice is valid. Not patronising you - not deliberately anyway. Apologies if you took it that way.Zlatan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 9:31 pmPlease dont patronise me. My advice is valid. Cancelling a direct debit with your Bank as long as you are not in breach of your contract should not adversely impact your credit rating as you are not failing to meet any repayments or debt. I assume that clarets player does not involve any kind of credit agreement ?
It sounds like they do not make it easy to cancel clarets player and cancelling the direct debit would seem a reasonable course of action in these circumstances (alongside contacting the club by emailing them and advising you have done that)

Re: Clarets+ - Subscription Cancellation
Two or three years ago, at the start of the season, it stopped working in my browser. I tried it in IE and it still wouldn't work and so I cancelled my subscription (effective from the end of the month). I then found that it worked in Chrome and so contacted them to re-start the subscription .
They re-enabled my subscription but unknown to me didn't re-instate the DD payments. I ended up getting a full year for free. At the start of the next season it wouldn't work again and so I complained . They replied back that I am not even subscribed. After the tooing and frowing of E-Mails I checked my Bank statement to see if they were taking the payments. Oops!
