Man Utd identify Tarkowski as a target.........
......to solve their defensive woes.
Well, if that’s the case, we should wack the price up.

So Megabucks United feel they need to strengthen at the back and we complain about how crap we are in the transfer windows. Kinell.

Sounds like we’re about to sell Tarkowski to a Championship club so that Man Utd can sign him from them. Thanks for the memories Tarka, and all the best.

Well, if he is seen as an upgrade on Maguire then it's £90m. I think we'd take that and play Jimmy Dunne with Ben Mee
Re: Man Utd identify Tarkowski as a target.........
They’ve only just worked it out...
For the record, it’s one move I wouldn’t begrudge Tarkowski making, for the right price

I dare say we can explain to Man U that you can't sign for three clubs in one season to kybosh that one.
Re: Man Utd identify Tarkowski as a target.........
You can’t just sign someone else’s player just because you don’t have enough or yours aren’t very good anymore. It really doesn’t work like that. You’ve just got to suck it up and go with what you’ve got, make the best of it.
That’s what I was told by a fella named Mike the other day, anyway. I’ve no reason to doubt him.

It's such an obvious outcome. Every lads wish to play for your team. Wouldn't begrudge him. Just get us the maximum price.
Should have signed his up coming replacement before now.

He'd have to babysit Maguire.

Transfer business like this, could it be a genuine loophole?
Re: Man Utd identify Tarkowski as a target.........
We did. Gibson. (Of course, we could perhaps have signed two up and coming replacements.)summitclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 11:29 pmIt's such an obvious outcome. Every lads wish to play for your team. Wouldn't begrudge him. Just get us the maximum price.

Re: Man Utd identify Tarkowski as a target.........
I get your point, but Gibson was never Tarkowski’s replacement - he was Mee’s.
Luckily for us, that has never come to fruition.

He was a replacement centre back. I have never bought in to this theory that a centre back can only ever play either on the left or the right - if that was true, how could they ever switch to three at the back?
Would you seriously believe that if a club - any club - has three outstanding centre halves and the fourth is a bit so-so, that the fourth choice would play ahead of the third if the "wrong" man got injured? I certainly wouldn't.

We can replace Tarkowski
We can’t replace Ben Mee
Tarky May be the better footballer but you can’t replace the passion and heart that Ben has when playing

Tarkowski never even looked like he was going to leave two years ago. His stock wasn’t that high, he wasn’t that established as a first team regular and had a lengthy contact still to run.dsr wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 12:03 amHe was a replacement centre back. Mee, on the other hand, was our current player of the year and was coming to the end of his contact and looked dead set on leaving.
Ben Gibson was definitely signed as Ben Mee’s replacement.

£50m to them, as per his contract.
Wonder if that would cost us £130m though.

Maguire is on £180,000 a week. You can’t begrudge Tarkowski wanting a piece of that. Hopefully he will stay for another year as Keane did but he just has to go if given the chance.

£180k a week?
He's been shockingly bad this season, they should consider asking him for some of that money back

Re: Man Utd identify Tarkowski as a target.........
As much as I rate Tarky I think this is a load of baloney.
United need a centre half with extreme pace to play alongside slab head.
If you paired them two up they would be similar with not enough pace for the top level.
So if they want to replace slab head, then they need two centre halves.

Excellent point CC, centre backs have come and gone at Burnley over the past few years, but the one constant has been Ben Mee.California Colner wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 12:08 amWe can replace Tarkowski

We thought we'd struggle when Keane left, but Tarly stepped into the breach, if and when Tarky goes we'll be fine as long as Ben is here to partner however replaces JT.
Whatever he won't be going anywhere until at least January now, but if Man Utd really want him great, we should squeeze them for every last penny, they can afford it, so make the blighters pay.

This is utter boll...ks.He may be key to us but is not up to what Man Utd need
Just rumors I suspect as there is nothing else to write about. If money is no object then right now if they are sticking to British players, then Coade is their man

Maguire is hardly a good yardstick. The whole football world knows he was vastly overpriced, is vastly overrated and paid far too much for what he offers.

Re: Man Utd identify Tarkowski as a target.........
I don’t think for one minute that Tarks would sign for a championship club just to immediately sign for Man U. If that was the case though Tarks doesn’t have a £50m clause to go to a championship club so the price is £100m to go via that route!
Re: Man Utd identify Tarkowski as a target.........
He can't anyway. Can't see why United would want Tarkowski, he is similar type of player to Mcguire.

Utd need the next Roy Keane before they start signing more defenders.
They're not getting enough protection and lacking a leader because Maguire ain't a leader.
