Jordan Cropper
Jordan Cropper
This is my chat last night with a Chesterfield supporting friend of mine about Jordan Cropper who we have out there on a season long loan
"Just realised that you have Burnley's Jordan Cropper there on a season loan. I think we got him from Ilkeston as a striker and converted him into a right back. When I looked at your team line up from yesterday's game it looked like he now plays as a central midfielder? Hope he does well for you and good luck to the Spirerites for this season"!
"Cropper played right wing back and very well too! He has a good long throw which was the 'assist' for the first goal and his cross was the 'assist' for the third goal. Happy days"!
"Cropper did move to right back late on after the subs."

Re: Jordan Cropper
How can someone change from a forward to a right back? Was his shots more like a clearance?

Re: Jordan Cropper
He didn’t. He was a right back who played some initial games up front before settling back into the right back position.
I’ve never seen a player throw the ball as far as Jordan does but it’s because he’s double jointed.

Mick Conroy turned from a full back at Reading to a striker at Burnley and very successful he was too

Re: Jordan Cropper
Yes, but Woking are part time and completely outplayed Chesterfield for about 40 minutes of the first half. Most Spirites are shocked by the result - both by the 4 and the nil as the defence have been pretty poor for, basically, four years.
Cropper has been one of the bright spots. I'm not sure if he keeps improving that he will reach Premier league level, but wouldn't rule it out just yet.
It will be interesting to see what happens next. The game turned in the last 20 minutes when some youngsters came on. Denton 2, Rawson and kiwomya might get to start the next game. But that would be the equivalent of starting all of vydra, Charlie Taylor and tarks the week after they all signed.......

Fred Pickering (oops!) was an even more successful convert!.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 3:52 pmMick Conroy turned from a full back at Reading to a striker at Burnley and very successful he was too
Re: Jordan Cropper
That would be Mick Conroy who started off as a striker as an apprentice at Coventry and had a one goal in every three games record at Clydebank before his move back south to Reading ... you’d have to wonder why Reading played him at full back on that basis ?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 3:52 pmMick Conroy turned from a full back at Reading to a striker at Burnley and very successful he was too

Re: Jordan Cropper
I had the same disc prolapse for third time last July 2019. I saw my surgeon who said I had already had spinal surgery two times and refused to operate again as in his words it would be life threatening. So nothing can be done apart from keep moving, take painkillers and be careful. Fortunately like my surgeon said to me the pain should ease with time and he was right. I have been in the Philippines since November 2019 and apart from a few weeks ago when I had 2 weeks of extreme pain I have been relatively ok.
Hope you are ok?

Currently playing for Chesterfield at home to Stockport, game is 1-1 with 20 minutes or so to go, Cropper scored for Chesterfield.

Seems his appearance in the team has caused the tie to be replayed.

Apparently he wasn't registered to play, yet he joined them in AugustBordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 5:16 pmSeems his appearance in the team has caused the tie to be replayed.

Re: Jordan Cropper
He was registered to play for them but they'd failed to send in a copy of the loan permission to the FA for the FA Cup which I presume is us giving them full permission to play him in cup ties. They've not been thrown out of the competition, showing it was nothing serious. They are replaying the game but Jordan can't play.

Re: Jordan Cropper
A consistent decision to get the game replayed bearing in mind that it was only a few years ago when Chesterfield did the same thing at mk dons. Wolves had ok'd georg margaritte (sure that's spelled wrong) to play but the form didn't get to the fa. It was replayed with the same result, so Chesterfield went through. I was at both games. Dele Ali played for mkd, but was pretty shyte falling over a lot even then.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 4:16 pmHe was registered to play for them but they'd failed to send in a copy of the loan permission to the FA for the FA Cup which I presume is us giving them full permission to play him in cup ties. Re: Jordan Cropper
With the way we throw the ball currently it's almost worth playing Cropper just so we can use long throws to give the ball away instead of short ones.

I used to play regularly against Dale Underwood who was in the youth set up here years ago - he could hurl a ball some distance , it was like his arms were spring loaded .

Re: Jordan Cropper
I don't think I've ever seen anyone throw a ball as far as Jordan does from a throw in. A couple of seasons ago, when we played at Cardiff and they had a couple of players who could throw then a long way, Jordan trained with the first team for that very reason. He's double jointed which is what enables him to do it.

Well Chesterfield paid the price for their technical error - they won on pens first time round, they lost 4-0 last night.

Re: Jordan Cropper
Re throw ins we never have players making space to recieve the ball from throw ins
That's why we inevitably end up passing the ball backwards to Nick to hoof it upfield

Re: Jordan Cropper
You can certainly tell not much thought goes into it in training. I'm sure its because we just invest time elsewhere but I find it agonising watching us throw the ball sometimes, especially if its close to our goal.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 4:56 pmRe throw ins we never have players making space to recieve the ball from throw ins

Its funny how long throws have become a tactic frowned upon by those claiming its bad football. I've always thought it to be an art in itself and a niche in the game with a big benefit.
