Kevin Long Injured on international duty
Kevin Long Injured on international duty
Kevin Long has been taken off injured 25 minutes into the Ireland game
Not sure if that's a good or bad thing based on his previous efforts.

I meant in terms of it may force Dunne to get a chance, or even better the chairman opens the clubs wallet.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 2:38 pmNot sure how one of our current first team starters getting injured is a good thing
Sadly I think Kevin Long isnt very good, and if he's used for many more games may cost us our place in the league.
Re: Kevin Long Injured on international duty
Bloody disgraceful comment. Anybody getting injured is bad but he's one of our own plays for God's sake.

Brady needs to come off now before he over exerts himself and has to have another three months on the treatment table.

Is Brady alright? He came off after 73 minutes. Hopefully it was precautionary as per my last comment on the subject.

Serious Question Here-has Brady played more minutes for ROI in last 20 months than BFC
Re: Kevin Long Injured on international duty
It was ok. He did not exert himself at all.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 3:31 pmBrady needs to come off now before he over exerts himself and has to have another three months on the treatment table.

I’m not sure that big Kev alone will cost us our place in the league? For what it’s worth I don’t believe he is of the standard required either, however up to this season he has never really let us down when called into action. The difference now is that he is playing in a team which is ageing, suffering from a lack of investment in it and is lacking motivation.

Re: Kevin Long Injured on international duty
If he is injured then its made easy for SD to introduce Dunne v WBA, whereas before he would have felt a loyalty to Long
I think alongside Tarkowski we will see the best of Dunne

Re: Kevin Long Injured on international duty
Mark Winstanley never played at this level. And for what it’s worth I simply stated that big Kev has never really let us down and I too was with Macca in agreeing that he isn’t quite good enough for this level of football.

Re: Kevin Long Injured on international duty
I'm not happy with the situation at the club and lack of transfer activity but I think people are overreacting a bit based on just a few league games. Kevin Long is perfectly good enough as backup for us, as he has proven on numerous occasions. I don't think that's changed. Obviously partnering him with a highly inexperienced Dunne is problematic but that's another issue entirely. For whatever reason, defences across the Premier League have really struggled so far this season. I haven't had much time to look into it but I'm guessing much of that is down to the shortened summer break?

Re: Kevin Long Injured on international duty
I think the key word is "backup". He is not up to the requirements of a CH in the PL which is very unforgiving, with simply one mistake all game being punished. I hate to say it , but look at all the PL squads in the PL and KL would probably not be in any of the 25 man squads and I include WBA and Fulhamwilliamjblazkowicz wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 11:15 amI'm not happy with the situation at the club and lack of transfer activity but I think people are overreacting a bit based on just a few league games. Ahh the "Kevin Long has never let us down" line
Dont think hes covered himself in glory in any game so far this season, with an error leading directly to a goal v Newcastle, and I'm sure there was on the last game of last season v Brighton game too.
That sort of defending in the premier league doesn't, and hasn't gone unpunished.
He's made as many errors leading to goals as Pickford has, and he gets absolute pelters on here.
Not even a championship quality defender, and before I get shot down, even our last 3 managers have agreed on that.
Even the fantastic defensive manager in Sean Dyche hasnt even been able to make him look comfortable at this level.

I think he's allright as long as everything else (tactics and team) is too.
So when our defence is properly set up his lack of pace doesn't matter.

Re: Kevin Long Injured on international duty
We sometimes under estimate the Mee/Tarks partnership. They know what each other think and do instinctively once they are on the pitch. Even pundits outside of Burnley highlight the solidity of this partnership. Its impossible for KL who is not a regular PL CH to grasp this, and mistakes happen in milli-seconds in this tough league, plus coaches spend all week looking at opposing team's weaknesses, and how to exploit them. WBA will no doubt have a plan if KL or Dunne start in the next game.

Re: Kevin Long Injured on international duty
Yes their absence shows how much we rely on the Mee/Tarks partnership, and their understanding has been a key component in the number of clean sheets we've garnered over the past few seasons, I for one will feel much more secure in our defence once they're reunited at the heart of our backline, hopefully sooner rather than later.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 2:19 pmWe sometimes under estimate the Mee/Tarks partnership.
