England vs Belgium

Post by FactualFrank » Sun Oct 11, 2020 3:50 pm

Lineup:

3 rightbacks
5 defenders
7 defensive players

What the hell is that.

Everything going on in football atm makes it utterly depressing. Southgate is a clueless buffoon.

Pickford back in. Phew.

Great to see Eric Dier and Maguire in central defence. Reassuring.

Wow, going for the bore them to sleep then nick a point tactic?
I cant even guess the formation.

Will still watch it, as last game was quite enjoyable, hoping this doesn't put me off for another 2 years..

The normal Southgate shambles - totally clueless and out of his depth

Belgium giving us a chance though - they’ve got Mignolet in goal

Who’s gonna create out of that lot? Henderson rice. Dier probably playing in a back 3, mason mount needs to have a good game.
Very negative lineup, Southgate just trying not to get beaten heavily. I predict a bore feast

The line up and formation mirrors him, clueless, negative and boring.

Imagine the CBs who have been left out/dropped for Walker and Dier... wow

The guy doesnt even pick round pegs for round holes, just picks on name, and tries to fit them all in the line up.

Very much a Dyche like team selection. Disappointing for me but should please the Dyche fan club on here who much prefer watching our defensive prowess than Man City's slick attacking game

I've never said this in my quite long life before, but I would be quite happy to see England get beat today. Southgate really annoys me.

He’s already setting himself up to get his naughty boys back on the pitch. Pope doesn’t start, we knew that was gonna happen. His inclusion against Wales was merely a pacifier. He can now look people in the eye and say he’s had a good look at fringe players in competitive games.

His statement about form not reputation being rewarded is fast looking like bullshit.

Dunno what to expect from England tonite... on paper it looks like he’s given up before a ball is kicked. Very negative.

Can anybody pick the formation?

I only see CL and Rashford as the forward players.

5-2-1-2 ?

Get rid of him and bring Bielsa in . With all the young talent we've got now , it certainly would be entertaining .

Same old, same old. Southgate- yawn. You could have guessed what the clown would do following a much better performance, albeit against a poor Wales side. Slab head, Dier, and Rice must have some pictures somewhere, of Gareth in a compromising situation with a Labrador, ala Keith Lard. It beggars belief.

Go watch city then...

Burnley fans prefer to see their team use whatever they can to make a game of it. Hard work, organisation, damage limitation tactics and a siege mentality that has become great to watch and be a part of. We don’t play Man City’s slick attacking game for two reasons. We don’t have their players, and if we tried we’d get absolutely slaughtered.

As I say, that’s what Burnley fans want to see. At least the Burnley fans that I know and spend game time with. Burnley fans who understand why we play the way we do and appreciate it.

Go watch city.

when I looked at the line up at first I thought it was a joke and could not seriously be an actual England line up in any way shape or form, I don't see the rationale for picking that side at all, all will be revealed shortly though, confidence level of a decent result is low here but.............

Formation tonight

................. Pitchfork
Alexander Maguire. Dier
Walker
Trippier
Rice Henderson Mount rashford

...............Calvert-Lewin

Looks a bit lob sided to me, but at least we’re playing 2 up front, with both Calvert and Lewin starting

343 I'd say.
Or in defence 541

I don't think it's that bad of a lineup. It's odd playing Trippier on the left but if he can cut in and cross ala Gudmundsson might make for some chances with a target man up top.

Problem is I think we'll get pinned back and other players in the team aren't very reliable even in their natural positions. Trippier was never great in defence either against top opposition... And that's when he plays right back.

As with many games the full backs will be the defining factor. If we attack we should do okay. If we are pinned back by their quality we'll suck. Looking forward to seeing us play good opposition though.

Come on, at least want a 7-6 win, with Pickford fecking up all 6.

Turns out it may have been for a later blocking of pitchfork... But even that looks dodgy, a let off

There's been a problem in England's defence ever since I remember. At least going back to 1990.

They turn like tanks, are too slow and don't see where to get the ball into midfield quicker.

Even Terry-Ferdinand were decent at defending but looked clueless when they had the ball and we were about to attack. Also turned like tanks with their poor first touch and control.

I’m not even shocked at how awful Walker(can’t make the City team), Dier(never a CH) & Maguire(how out of form do you need to be before GS drops you?)
Keane, Tarks and Coady would be a much better back 3.
Belgium taking the p1ss as we pass it around at back. Not even thinking to close us down and our 3 useless muppets haven’t a clue how to get the ball to our MF.

Hate to say but Mings is as good if not better than Maguire on current form as well
