Grezza sacked...

Post by claptrappers_union » Mon Oct 12, 2020 12:44 pm

Salford City have sacked boss Graham Alexander and put ex-Manchester United player Paul Scholes in interim charge.

Alexander, 49, led the club to promotion to the English Football League in his first season in 2018-19.

He leaves the club in fifth place in League Two, having gone unbeaten in their first five games this season.

Scholes is one of the club's part-owners along with former United team-mates David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Gary and Phil Neville.

Gets them promoted, undefeated with only 5 games played, 5th in the table, punching above their weight!... and he gets sacked.

Aye, ok.

He's been a bit unlucky with his management so far. Seems to have done a decent job at each club, a couple of promotions.. and been sacked 3 times already.

Sounds like Salford don't like promotion, so have got Scholes to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Didn’t they sack them 2 blokes when they were doing well too? Seem to remember them saying about they took them as far as they could and wanted someone else? Maybe they think the same with Graham? If they really want to climb up the leagues they’ll be doing this every couple of years.

Maybe more to do with matters off the field and something Grezza may have to work on if success is bringing sackings

How long did Scholes last at Oldham. How long was Neville managing in Spain. I love how these pundits build up this perception of knowing everything from playing to managing. The latter is a certain skill

Feel sorry for Graham-a legend of our club. I would say he is best out of it-and am certain another job will come for him soon

Heres hoping it comes back to bite them big time...

Grezza will bounce back and be in demand at bigger and better clubs than the Neville/Scholes vanity project...

They threw away a 2 goal lead against a make shift side, because of the virus. Not the first time they’ve thrown away leads and the promotion was the season before last. They’ve given him a decent run at it.

Weird decision, but nothing shocks me in this day and age, I can see plenty of clubs in League 1/2 being in need of a gaffer having Grezza high on their wish lists, he knows the game at that level, and he's shown he can get clubs promoted, their loss will be another clubs gain, and it'll be interesting to see how their season progresses from here on.

I think we could never rule out a future Alexander/Duff team managing us. They will know and respect each other

Based on what? He once played for us? If he hadn't he wouldn't get a mention, certainly at this level.

If Grezza ends up managing us, we'll have had a serious fall from grace.

I couldn't agree more - I've declined the opportunity to take the role on full time. :D

On a serious note, have they done this so they can get another Sky series out of it?

Good thought. Cynical deed, if the case but very likely to be true.
They are the new Watford. Either change the manager or the team....1 change is better.

Hope he was paid well.
