The new match engine sounds very promising:

I just hope they haven't over-hyped it and it ends up being a let down.

2021 will be interesting, especially as I like managing a National League/League Two club and take them to the top, will Corona be added to the game meaning 0 fans and no gate receipts for finances, will be a challenge.

I had 22 people watch my recent 6-0 win. Played 11, won 10, drawn 1. Scored 33 goals.

The problem now is that I have good players who aren't getting a game and so are throwing their toys out of the pram. 8 forwards and I play 3-4-3, so looks like I need to release some on a free.

15 goals in 11 games for one of my forwards, but one of my others just scored a hatrick - he came on as a sub at half time!

An update. I am still the manager of Crystal Palace and on my first season back in the prem i took it by storm. Nearly snatched a Champions League spot but ended up 5th and a Europa League spot. Still no silverware despite some good cup runs. Zaha has been sold to West Brom as he was becoming too much of a disruption in the dressing room. Fans were unhappy but players and the board agreed it was right. Season after i started brilliantly and i thought i was in the race for the title but i hit a bad patch and slumped to midtable. Ended up in 7th. Fared well in the Europa League before going out in the last 8 to Galatasaray despite taking a lead to Turkey. I have a very young team but not much money to spend so I am starting to find it difficult to keep unearthing the gems and established players are outside my price range. May have hit my ceiling.

They've chosen to ignore it. Mind you with the number of players in my squad in fm20 out with viruses it almost looks like they didn't!

The first question, why Crystal Palace?

Second question, what tactics are you using? I started off with 3-5-2 but changed to 3-4-3 with attacking intent.

I was manager of Tottenham to begin with..got sacked and ended up with Crystal Palace. My journey is somewhere near the top of this thread.

I use 4-2-3-1 with control posession. Like i say my team is quite young but quite mobile and most have already got impressive passing stats. I play out from the back very well and often beat any press. Like a young Man City :D I just struggle to find a decent player to fill the attacking midfielder position behind my striker.
Not many well known names but i do have Joe Worrall and i signed Ryan Gravenberch from Jong Ajax and he is a key midfielder. Played for Ajax the other week against Liverpool. Have Brandon Williams as one of my left backs and Demarai Gray on the wing. Oh and Bukayo Saka too. Don't think I have any of the current Palace players at the club now.

Have you tried starting off at the very bottom? There's an add-on (I included the link earlier on) allowing you to manage 16 levels deep. As I play 3-4-3, I sell off my full backs straight away. Just won 3-1 and almost secured promotion. Not lost a game yet but of course there is time, ha.

Look up George Danaher. Scored 20 goals for me in 13 games. An absolute machine.

I more often than not start in the Conference North or South but i thought i'd try the top for a change. It's actually not as easy as you think. Bigger egos, bigger squads to keep happy and making them fit into a tactical style is not easy. More demanding boards too..hence my sacking at Tottenham. I did try that expansion but i found it a little bit random because i'm fairly certain the players are not researched. Made the game a little too messy for me despite it attempting to add more depth.

Which team are you?

I looked in the Leeds district leagues but they don't seem to have included it, so I started with City of Wakefield FC. I'm bringing in players who they say are League 2 material. The majority of these players are 18-21, but I have a massive shortlist of around 200 players.

One tip - go to the shortlist and filter out to 'Doubtful' - they will still sign for you.

Promotion achieved to division one of the local district league. Gives me 5 games left to throw a few of the fringe players in and stop them complaining.

Played 15, won 14, drawn 1. 3 games left as there's only 10 teams in this division. Star striker has 22 goals in 15 games. I'm probably talking to myself on here, but will keep the thousands of spectators who come on, updated.

Fancy giving this a go during lockdown but my laptop will probably blow up and I’ll become the first man on Mars.

Haha, you should do.

My star striker is now out for 8 weeks with a twisted ankle. Just glad promotion is sealed.

One thing I've realised - because my players are all on amateur monthly contracts, it means any Tom, Dick or Harry can come in and sign them. But, most of them are rejecting contracts for the other club and prefer to stay.

Not sure where the money is going to come from to enable me to get them signed up for longer full time contracts, but some of my players are league quality, playing for a club 16 levels down, so I might have to start the conveyor belt up and keep bringing players in.

Pretty crazy in that every week clubs are coming in for my players, but the players don't want to leave. They want to stay at the club and be paid £0 :)

That's difficult to read, who is it?

I got promotion in my first season and so now one promotion away from the West Yorkshire league. I think that's about 9 promotions from League Two. I won my first game of the new season 10-0, with one of my players scoring 5 goals!

My now son in law, introduced me to tge game, many years ago (when it was simple). I used to take on Elgin and start from the bottom. The problem was that no-one wanted to sign for Elgin! A hard slog!

The current version does have more to do, but you can go into settings and ask your assistant manager to do a lot of it. The under 18s and under 23s, I leave to him, along with all training. So what's left for me to do is what's pretty much always been the case - select the team, make the transfers, along with a few things such as team talk, and finding better coaches, scouts, physios etc.

The potential problem I have is that my side is at amateur level and so they are paid £0 and are on month-to-month contracts. So what's happening is every week clubs are coming in for several of my players. For some reason, they pretty much all reject the move and would prefer to stay, but as soon as a league club comes in, they're off. So I then have to go back to the transfer market and bring in somebody else. Fortunately this calms down once the season commences.

It's a bit too easy at the moment, but I think it's not just down to my world class management ;-) but also, it's a very low level, and so I'm getting players in on a free who are easily the best players in the division. I'd say my team is league 2 / vanarama league quality at the moment, which is why the next few seasons will be a breeze.

Southgate, he's now left my U18s to be Manager at Kilmarnock.
Meanwhile Tony Mowbray is England manager. Guardiola at Spurs. Bielsa Everton. Dyche Stoke.

Gonna get the xbox version when that’s out. I had cm 01/02 and 02/03 on the old one years back. 01/02 was the go too. I got to about 2020 on one save. Could blast few seasons in a few hours.

Sounds like the new one on xbox is modelled more on the handheld version vs PC so would suit me far more.

Still going strong. Never lost since I took over.

I just want a real test when my team is allowed to enter the FA Cup.

I try and play on mine once a week. Just started season 6 with Plymouth and having survived the drop last season it’s my 2nd season in the championship. They’re expecting mid table but will be happy with top half but secretly wanting some sort of play off push. Having to sell a player a season to balance the books though so the sooner we can reach the PL the better!

Just got back to playing.

18 games played, 18 games won. Another successful promotion to the West Yorkshire League.

Not sure how long it is before I can qualify for the FA Cup, but I'll be aiming to win it.

Look at the freebies. I've just signed somebody on a free about 15 levels down, who I think could get into a League Two side. You can always find a bargain who will walk into your side.

And I have to ask... why the bloody hell Plymouth?

Think they messed up when they started to take reputation and rivalry into consideration when signing a player. Even the scouts think you can sign a player for 50m less than it says it they are a team in the same league.

I tried to sign Todd cantwell he was valued at 8 million pounds so I offered 10 Norwich rejected it and told me they wanted 40 million plus max Thompson. They got told were to go . I only had 11 mil for my transfer budget

I wanted to take a club from league 2 to the PL which despite many years of playing I’ve never done before. I’d always start in the championship or in later years in the PL. chose Plymouth randomly. Halfway through my season i am 5th and still in touch with the top two which I’m delighted with. Just lost at home to Blackburn though who appear to be a bit of a bogey side unfortunately :(

Is it fast in terms of doing a season? I really only played Championship Manager (01-02/02-03) on the xbox and could do a season really quickly. I’m not bothered about too much detail within the game. Just want to do a season every 5 or 6 hours.

Yeah you can either watch the match or just get instant result . I find it rather hard signing players as burnley only start with 11 million and most clubs won't double for there players but if you wait until Jan there's some decent players available because of last year of there contract. I havnt got that far yet . I only know because my friend who has it told me

There are a few things that need fixing.

For a start, I've just signed a player and within days he's complaining that I've not kept my promise of strengthening the side. We're talking 48 hours and he's complaining already.

Ooops. Just suffered my first defeat in 3 seasons - for some reason my striker was put in goal! So every shot they scored.

I’ve seen screenshots of a few weird stuff. Player injured whilst out jogging hit my a wild animal

Coaches saying for example Nick Pope needs dropping and he thinks you should play Ashley Barnes instead.

Ok, so my defeat came in a friendly. I tried to re-arrange another friendly about 17 times but they kept refusing.

I've got another promotion winning every game in the season. It's very much a conveyor belt system as people aren't being paid so they can move whenever they like.

I've just about managed to get 33 players - 3 players for every position, and been promoted to a West Yorkshire league. I just want to be able to enter the FA Cup, as think I've a chance of going far.

Well I have won a completely unexpected promotion the the PL! A lot of similarities with our season in 08/09. Finished 6th, on a good run and beat Blackburn 2-0 at Wembley (I’d have loved to have done that in real life). Anyway my problem is now that my wage budget is only 275k pw and I was spending 180k pw in the championship which was the 3rd lowest wage bill. That wage budget is mid table championship at best. I do have a 31m transfer budget so it looks like I will have to put it all in the wage budget and sign experienced freebies if I can find any. Probably my biggest challenge to date.

I was going to be Burnley, but the colour scheme on FM2020 is screwed - unless it's my monitor.

The blue is drowned out by the claret, so the writing isn't clearly visible.

I've just signed Josh Benson on a free.

He won't make the starting 11 often, but I felt I just had to sign him for backup.
