Would you rather
1) A decent national team?
2) A decent Clarets?

Reckon he'd do a better job than the current boss.
Though would add that there are a lot of managers around that would be better than Southgate.

Burnley first, it's got to the point where I watch England just waiting for Pickford to cock up again.

I’d rather lose him to England than another club.

From a World Cup semi final, just two years ago, GS has gone backwards. Young has moved on, Walker should be, Alli,Stones and Lindgard appear miles off international standard. He keeps trying the youngsters but they just aren’t there yet.
SD would immediately sort out the defence and with the attacking power available it is possible to start a very good England side but it won’t happen with Southgate in charge.
He's too much an FA man.

Burnley every single time, but if he ever got the opportunity to manage England (and he damn sure deserves it more than the current incumbent), then he should snatch it with both hands.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 7:11 pmWould you rather

Brendan Rodgers would be another who’d do a great job, I think.

Burnley come first...always, bjt I'd also like a good national team. I don't think Dyche is the right person for England. Eddie Howe would be my choice. Plays nice attacking football (can't defend for toffee) and we've got some really good attacking talent.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 7:11 pmWould you rather

Taking claret-tinted specs off, surely someone like Brendan Rodgers would be a better pick.

Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
I said on another thread a few weeks back, they are top professionals, they don't need coaching, they just need organising. Dyche could do that better than most. With the abundance of talent available there's no need for round pegs in square holes. No need to accommodate a 3 toed sloth at centre half, or a midget of a goalkeeper that flaps any time he has to deal with a high cross.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 7:32 pmFrom a World Cup semi final, just two years ago, GS has gone backwards. Tournaments are won from a solid base, organisation and it sounds daft but by building a team, not 11 individuals.
I cant see a better English man around other than Dyche thats built a career on that.
And with all the great players at our disposal going forwards, he would only need to sure us up at the back.
Many a cup has been won by teams managing to do a 1-0 job on teams.
Dyche is the master at than
IMO of course.

Would probably appeal to him given the extra time off between international breaks to spend with his family.
And let's face it, another PL job is highly unlikely to materialise for him.

Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
We (England) would be organised and we would have a plan that’s for sure.
How would he manage the prima donnas though? Could he manage the prima donnas?
He’s basically built what we have here at the moment, the attitude and team ethic is palpable, and there is doubt there for me that this could be replicated with those players who think they are something special. Also, be a totally new experience for him to be able to choose a team from lots of quality players. Our starting 11 pretty much picks itself really so no hard decision making in that, but when he’s got what GS has To choose from, that’s gonna be hard and a complete new experience for him.
He can stay here if he likes....

Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
I dont think he'd have a problem with prima Donna's, hed just leave them out. The TEAM is far more important than the individual, and I'm sure team mates of prima donnas get as ****** off as their managers and fans do.bobinho wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 9:07 pmWe (England) would be organised and we would have a plan that’s for sure.

Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
I’m not sure he’d be the right man for the job. So much of our success under Dyche depends on the team ethic and ‘one for all’ mentality and I’m not sure that can be built with an inconsistent set of players meeting for a few days every couple of months.
Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
Gary Neville. Certainly knows a lot about everything and is prominent in saying so. But rarely mentions Valencia for some reason.

Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
Would it damage his long term management prospects?
Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
Think there's a bit more to it than being organised. Roy Hodgson has shown that he's perfectly capable of organising a team at Premier league level but didn't pull up any trees for England. Why do people think Dyche would do any better?

Yes, I could, Sid.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:09 pmYou honestly think Dyche would get England to the finals of a major tournament?
More so if he'd anything like as much fortune in the draw as Southgate had.
Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
Perfect choice. After all, he's had a lot of success in the cups hasn't he. Do you count that semi with Chesterfield? He scored a penalty you know. He could tell the lads how to do it.

Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
becoming a successful england manager thesedays would mean becoming a figurehead for a national frenzy of alcohol, gambling and tv companies. its all about sales and addiction.
the red tops sales soar with a few decent results, and it gives the lunatic fringe that NEVER watch football a chance to be a part of something.
but as england are forever destined to be *****, then its irrelevant who's in charge. the players are apathetic and overpaid, and don't have the spirit required to win a major tournament. winners at this level are not fabricated in a world of heat maps and train spotter style statistics.

Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
So a certain section of England fans are calling for the replacement of Gareth Southgate because they don’t like the playing style.
And the favourite to replace him is Sean Dyche. Emmm?

Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
Sean Dyche's playing style is more entertaining than Southgate's. An early long ball into the opposing penalty area is more entertaining than twenty short passes round the back and then a long ball into the penalty area.

Howe also seems to be a popular choice, but I'm gonna guess they don't understand that Howe can't set up a defence to save his life.
Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
People hate Southgate for not selecting Burnley players every game but seem to think non stubborn experimental tinker man Dyche would instantly select Mee Pope Tarkowski and Westwood every game which seems incredibly optimistic
I think iv come to accept no matter the English calibre of player the national team will always be dull as hell and incredibly average. International football in general is so underwhelming and boring imo

Re: Sean Dyche clear favourite for England’s next manager!
Dyche will never get the respect he needs from a squad of international players, the media, or the FA. Good god he played for Chesterfield and managed Burnley.
It is much easier to have a wimp like Southgate in charge. He obeys the rules, picks the players from the money clubs, where the media can make more money and does not upset the merry go round.
Problem with the current management is uncontrolled indiscipline. Fighting, breaking Covid rules, taking the law into their own hands, and getting sent off. With a weak management structure those players from the media darling clubs know they will never be dropped other than for the odd game.
Dyche will find it no easier because when these same players ignore what he says the media will blame him
Eddie Howe for England. Good media face
