Yes, it would appear that I was correct inasmuch as I said DD would be a flop. Obviously I didn't know the night club incident would happen. Maybe I just have a thing against drink driving.
But, DD aside we didn't do too well out of Gibson, or the unfortunate Defour.
Defour was the catalyst for us to reach Europe.

It’s excellent news Nonayforever but it’s been dressed up a bit when it’s only one year longer than the deal he was already on. He’s had a very quiet start to the season but I rate Dwight highly and so the longer he’s here, the better. If we do go on to sell him then every year remaining on the contract helps financially.

It’s so hard to believe he’s still only 20.
Do you think there are deals in place between player and club where it's basically a case of McNeil earning more, but at the same time, we being able to ask for a higher transfer fee and earning more overall?

Deals are so complex these days but you can bet your bottom dollar that he’s received a significant pay increase. The longer there is remaining on a contract is always a good negotiating tool for the selling club but the player and his representatives could well have got a sell on clause in there.

Any pay rise Dwight has revceived has been well earned over the past 180 months or so.

Very happy to see him signed up on a new contract.

Plenty of work still to be done to get ourselves a set of happy campers from top to bottom at the club but this is something to be welcomed.

That’s exactly what you were suggesting. He’s signed until 2024 with option of another year and you said why not a further three.
The three I suggested were instead of the one, so that would have taken hin to 2026. A long way from 2028 or 29 that you are implying I said.

As CT has stated, Dwight will have received an increase in salary, plus ( probably) an extension fee, we in return will have negotiated an increased buy out clause in any future transfer plus we know that he is settled ( for the time being ) at Burnley which means we can ( or try ) to build a team of around him.

And I suggest you read what's in my posts, not what you think is in my posts.

Calm down lads. Calm down. Both on the same team here.

Brilliant news he's signed an extended contract.

Some would say he’s been quiet for 20 plus games now and this contract suits him

Certainly this season but he turned in some good performances in the second half of last season.

Fine player.
He's being judged now on carrying the bulk of our attacking intent.

Hi Rowls, 180 months? I make that 15 years.... I know Dwight is good but I don't think he's been in the first team that long. ;)

PS: It's a little time since you posted. What does it tell us that no one else seems to have noticed that you typed "180 months?"

Great news to extend Dwight McNeil's contract - and I'm sure he will have got the rewards with a bump in pay.

Maybe it has been getting these things sorted that has dragged a little for Dwight these past few weeks.

Good to see the wages saved from not extending Joe Hart and Arron Lennon go towards keeping some of our key players - legs, hearts and minds.
