Ashley Barnes
Threw a bit of a hissy fit when taken off tonight. Refused to acknowledge JayRod and went straight off with a pat on the back from an opponent.

Went off on the opposite side of the pitch , and was probably annoyed he didn’t scoredermotdermot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:25 pmThrew a bit of a hissy fit when taken off tonight. Refused to acknowledge JayRod and went straight off with a pat on the back from an opponent.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Left the pitch via the quickest direction as one is entitled to do these days to help the team try and snatch a winner.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Was nowhere near Jay Rod when he went off and there was no sign of a hissy fit from what I saw, just went off as he's supposed to now.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:25 pmThrew a bit of a hissy fit when taken off tonight. Re: Ashley Barnes
Never know with him as he is so wound up-however he put a good shift in and touch and go if Wood or him went off. Ash needs to know though that JR did a great job when Barnes was injured and needs to fight for his place. At present its Ash's to lose

Re: Ashley Barnes
Aye. Rather see that than trudge off silently.
Bit of much needed passion.
Re: Ashley Barnes
Commentator said he was not happy being subbed.
I don’t think many players like being subbed - especially forwards when their teams are on top like we were in the second half.
Nothing wrong with him being unhappy. I’d be more worried if I saw him sprinting off with a smile on his face !

Re: Ashley Barnes
Agree - nothing wrong with a bit of desire and frustration.
Often feel we play better with JRod and/or Vydra, but when he has two very near misses you can see why Sean plays him.
Would've liked to see Vydra get the last 10 minutes while they were tired though.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Exactly. If I were manager I'd want my players to play with passion. And be ****** off if they were subbed.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:42 pmAye. Rather see that than trudge off silently.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Second game in 9 months. Perhaps the manager feels that 90 minutes can wait a week or two.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Should have scored as Wood.
We looked better with Barnes on than Rodriguez who never got going, has was the case with Brady

Re: Ashley Barnes
What a strange comment to make? How did he refuse to acknowledge Jay Rod?dermotdermot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:25 pmThrew a bit of a hissy fit when taken off tonight. Refused to acknowledge JayRod and went straight off with a pat on the back from an opponent.
If he was annoyed at being subbed then good. Players should never be happy if they are taken off.
I think this has been posted because the commentator mentioned he didn't seem happy that he was being substituted.

To acknowledge (or ignore him) Jay-Rod he would have had to leave the field where Jay was enteribgdermotdermot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:25 pmThrew a bit of a hissy fit when taken off tonight. Refused to acknowledge JayRod and went straight off with a pat on the back from an opponent.

Maybe he should have waved at him from across the pitch?

Re: Ashley Barnes
Listen, sunshine, all I can say is that I saw Rodriguez with outstretched palms before withdrawing them when he realised that Barnes was hastily exiting the pitch in another direction. I wish that I hadn’t mentioned it as the comment seems to have stirred up the usual petty bickering that seems to occur on this forum.

Re: Ashley Barnes
I must day Kevin Long gave a masterclass in the art of central defending. He was more secure than the Tarks - who lost his man for their disallowed goal. Go Kevin!

Re: Ashley Barnes
That's the other issue with Long playing. It's not just that he's a weaker player, we also have to shift Tarkowski out of position to accommodate him. He's certainly not as good on the left as he is on the right.kindonesque wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 11:18 amI must day Kevin Long gave a masterclass in the art of central defending. Re: Ashley Barnes
I'm not sure what our points tally increased by with the introduction of JR last season but i felt that we played better and were more of a threat (last season) with him in the team.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:40 pmNever know with him as he is so wound up-however he put a good shift in and touch and go if Wood or him went off. That said, it's great to have Ash back and fit. He offers another option and style of play.
