Clearly it's the Premier Leagues long term goal to go PPV and to get their breakaway league.
I think this past couple of weeks will show them how their greed is counter productive and that's the only reason neither will happen.

Re: Bilic and pay per view
He has a point.
We all know it’s heading this way and imho, crowds won’t return to pre-covid attendances. At least not for clubs like us. People have got used to spending their money elsewhere, and the longer this goes on the worse it will be. I think it’s a little short sighted of those who decided this amount. Maybe they went with the ‘drug dealer’ model of “you can have this and when you want some more, come back to me” by giving us the big games free at the start?
Football is already out of touch with the working class masses, I’m struggling to see a future for the game with the structure of it as we know it to be.

Its a bit rich when those in receipt of massive wages (who wouldn't say no?) appear to want to stand up for the rights of those who effectively pay those wages. I don't really understand his beef.

Re: Bilic and pay per view
When I was a kid schools would be bombarded with free tickets and going on the Turf was a buzz. Now I take my nephew on with me who’ll happily skip the turf for a shopping trip to Manchester with his girlfriend or mates. Will be hard to build a hardcore of fans with it being as easy to follow any other team with social media etc...bobinho wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 9:48 amHe has a point.

Burnley do well to look after the fans they have (until recently it feels) but this fan base is getting older and won’t be around forever. Personally I’m thinking of cancelling my ST which I’ve had for years and just picking and choosing a few away days instead - already spoken to mates about it who I go on the turf with who’d happily do a trip to some non league side so we don’t miss out on a few drinks and a day out together. The landscape is changing drastically it seems with people getting used to not going on and football (and Burnley) seeming to become more distanced from what we fell in love with.

Couldn’t agree more. Greed and now Covid could be the death knell for football as we know it. It’s very easy to get out of the habit of going and there are plenty of other things to do. I enjoy junior football just as much but would be happy to go to a local non league / lower league game where the players and fans can relate to each other and it just seems more real but still very enjoyable. I didn’t mind paying to watch my team last night but it was poor fare for the entertainment and most neutrals wont be in a rush to pay that much to watch that.bfccrazy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 10:01 amWhen I was a kid schools would be bombarded with free tickets and going on the Turf was a buzz. As for Bilic, well done to him and also to Mourinho for similar supportive comments.

Re: Bilic and pay per view
Any idea yet how the money is distributed? Ie all to WBA last night as a home game, shared between us both, or money in a pot & then distributed evenly?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 10:50 amThey have said they will not release any figures.

That's why I categorically refused to pay to watch it.

Re: Bilic and pay per view
I have to say, I’m missing watching my nephew play football - was still travelling over for an hour and half each way to see him play on Sunday mornings and to see family til all the restrictions started - I still get updates every weekend from him though which are brilliantBoss Hogg wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 10:38 amCouldn’t agree more. 2 paid 7.50 each thought that quite reasonable. Not the best of games, but you pay to see your team play.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 11:31 amThat's why I categorically refused to pay to watch it.
If some of the money goes to the club better still.

Fair enough. Seems a bit dodgy.
