I almost take more notice of who the VAR man is than the Referee these days

Re: Referee confirmed for Tottenham game
Years ago hated seeing Oliver's name being the ref as I didn't rate him at all, but now, probably best referee we have in the league.

And I think he has gone the opposite way. Thought he was an excellent young ref but now he buys too much of the prima donna performances for my liking.claretburns wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 1:42 pmYears ago hated seeing Oliver's name being the ref as I didn't rate him at all, but now, probably best referee we have in the league.

Behind Atkinson and Dean for me at very least.claretburns wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 1:42 pmYears ago hated seeing Oliver's name being the ref as I didn't rate him at all, but now, probably best referee we have in the league.
He was on the up and had the potential to become the best, sadly wanted to be a superstar in his own right, wants to be mates with the players, and thinks its all about him.
Very much a ref suited to Mourinho and Spurs visiting the turf, he csnt wait to help the big boys

Re: Referee confirmed for Tottenham game
Michael Oliver was unable to spot the Pickford assault on Van Dijk !! If he is our best referee, God help us....

Clearly unsighted so you couldn't expect him to see what happened clearly. What should have happened is Coote should have seen something. Still, it wasn't as bad as the foul that took JBG out v Sheffield United and that wasn't even considered a foul.

Yes, and David Coote was Fourth Official that night, although I never really know how much input they have in these incidents. Simon Bennett was also on the line that night and was on the line at Everton on Saturday, although I am not sure which line he was running and could be totally blameless.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 4:23 pmClearly unsighted so you couldn't expect him to see what happened clearly. David Coote is not having a good season at all with VAR, however, he refereed very well last night in the Leeds game.

Re: Referee confirmed for Tottenham game
it was widely reported yesterday that Coote didn't realise he could send Pickford off because of the offside/after the whistle scenarioClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 4:23 pmClearly unsighted so you couldn't expect him to see what happened clearly. Oliver seems to award pens, to the chosen clubs, at the drop of a hat. We had better watch out...we are not chosen and Tottenham is a chosen club.

Been confirmed since that he didn’t think it worthy of a red cardVegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 6:28 pmit was widely reported yesterday that Coote didn't realise he could send Pickford off because of the offside/after the whistle scenario

Re: Referee confirmed for Tottenham game
Could only think that not worthy of a red card if you are either blind, stupid or a premier league referee...ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 6:29 pmBeen confirmed since that he didn’t think it worthy of a red card

Re: Referee confirmed for Tottenham game
and that's the issue, had Oliver been in the VAR I bet he would have at least told Coote to look at the monitor.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 6:29 pmBeen confirmed since that he didn’t think it worthy of a red card
