Covid test station.Burnley

Post by The Enclosure » Wed Oct 21, 2020 11:43 am

Lot of activity this morning on the car park near Tescos on Centenary Way. Looks like they are massively increasing the testing facilities.

The Council tweeted this message:
There's a hint of musical chairs around the Covid-19 testing stations in Burnley over the coming days which is unavoidable and beyond our control but the main thing is that testing will still be available in the borough.
The testing station in Centenary Way (opposite the bus station) will move to King Street car park (next to the crown court, off Queen’s Lancashire Way) from tomorrow (Wed 21st) to Friday (23rd)
The station currently running at Burnley FC will move to King Street car park from Sat (24th) to Tues (27th) as the football club cannot accommodate it on these dates
It will return to Turf Moor on Oct 28th and operate there until Oct 31st.
A permanent NHS-run testing station is due to start operating at Centenary Way from Monday (26th Oct).

Presumably the work today is to prepare for the permanent station.

I thought they were shutting that down because of a lack of testing kits? It was open 7 days a week when I first used to pass it, then it closed Thursdays, then Thurs and Fri and then finally heard it was being removed.

id give it a miss. if the people in that queue think they have the symptoms then you are more than likely going to get it from them queuing next to them for hours. safer to stay at home.

You'd think they'll be keeping a distance from each other.

Over 150 of them in Burnley and Blackburn hospitals so yes. Do you think some people don't get seriously Ill and require hospitalization? Are you one of these who needs to see an ICU with your own eyes to believe it?

Is it any wonder as to why we are seeing the second wave when people come out with crap like this. Covid wards and ICUs are close to being rammed again and you ask such a question. Do you think they are there for a holiday or something. I despair, I really do.

And the majority of patients on mechanical ventilation at Blackburn hospital are due to Covid rather than non-Çovid.

No they weren’t, but ICUs were, and they are this time round. That’s what matters

It's interesting to note your logic. Anyone who doubts the impact of this virus as reported by the mainstream media is accused of thinking the whole thing has been made up. It isn't that I think I know best; it's that I think scientists whose views are being ignored know best, perhaps. See what the scientist Mike Yeadon has to say on the topic. I'll leave it to you to look him up on YouTube, if you're interested. More and more scientists are saying the same thing, but the government are only listening to Ferguson who has a terrible track record of overstating the impact of viruses.

A family member of mine who is currently in hospital with it was most seriously ill, others I know who have tested positive recently have been more fortunate, but yes there are some that are most definitely seriously ill

Someone called Luke from Burnley posted a Video where he received the text through the post from the NHS and then on the Video he didn't take the test and then posted it back and later in the Video you see the results come back and he is shown as positive!!
He did this he says because he heard others did it too (not take the test and then are told its positive) so if this is true what on earth is going on????

Claims or appears not to have taken the test would have been more accurate ... we have no way of knowing whether the video is genuine ... can anyone make out the address his email was sent from it should read

Its not - unfortunate young people will listen, for the record - I have tested posititve, currently living with a friend who also is positive because my dad at home has cancer - I thank god that I am sensible enough to know the risks, theres a lot of selfish idiots out there (including on this thread) that would have ignored the warnings and risked killing people like my dad.

Thank you for the well wishes.

Don't get me wrong, the prognosis is sh1t but i'd rather not speed it up!

Its not been handled great but the ONLY reason they need to lockdown again is because people don't listen or listen to someone from work or on fb who thinks they are a scientist.

Mild - I was quite ill at one point but this is day 4 and it just feels like something hanging around. The scary thing was that someone at work rang in sick displaying symptoms, no one had been near him (all things in place at work) and 3/4 days later it had spread like wildfire.

Lots of people think Covid-19 is a conspiracy theory, the idea is growing in popularity every day, if it’s not a conspiracy theory the impact is being grossly over exaggerated is also widely believed.

There is bad language in the video

UTC
the last thing he states on that video is the only truth...

"This is all ********"

Everybody (all regions) should be in the same tier ideally tier 3 regardless of what is happening elsewhere, instead of fluctuating tiers confusing people with all the different restrictions, some people don't have the foggiest of what they can do & what they can't do & don't know if they are coming or going, 1 strict set rule for all regions for a limited time period subject to review accordingly.

You struggled with the rules during the full lockdown so these tiers must be blowing your tiny mind.

This is why we have restrictions, not just in the UK but most of Europe at the moment.
I suppose the Doctors and Nurses are overstating the impact of the virus as well? Once hospitals are overstretched indirect deaths occur as well. It's all about managing the capacity of our healthcare systems.
Does Mike Yeadon say what to do when ICU beds start to run out in hospitals?
The government is listening to Ferguson who you imply is overstating the virus.
So are the French, Belgian, Italian governments listening to him as well? Because the same restrictions in some form or other are happening in all these countries. I think they're listening to predictions from experts about when the hospitals will struggle to cope. Again it's all about managing the healthcare system.

COVID is definitely live and present and is more rife now than it was in the last wave going off the business i work for and the amount each day calling in. What I dont understand is whey we are not using the Nightingale hospitals freeing up normal hospitals for appointments surgery etc.

I went for a test at Turf Moor this morning. I lost my sense of smell and taste last Friday. My wife was rushed into BRI early hours on Tuesday morning in severe pain with possible bowel and bladder complications. She has also tested positive for Covid 19. We had both been feeling a bit fuzzy for about 10 days.

I can't be doing with conspiracy theorists, you are 100% barking mad.

Nightingale hospitals are a big white elephant which was a publicity stunt to say “Look, we’re doing something...” when in reality there’s no staff to run them at capacity and keep normal hospitals running. Unless of course it’s the death wards for normal hospitals to keep the dying away from people who have a chance, in which case you only need porters to shuffle the dead around

Manchester nightingale is to open next week. It's a very important contingency that will hopefully not be needed much. There is workforce capacity available to enable it to reopen.
