Gesture from Alex Whitmore

Post by ClaretTony » Fri Oct 23, 2020 8:32 pm

Alex Whitmore was in our youth and u23s not too long ago and now plays for AFC Fylde.

Today’s he’s posted the following on social media. What a good lad he is.

I love stuff like that! You hear some people say ‘he’s just doing it for publicity’ I’d imagine he’s not but even if he is, there’s more than one winner

Some will say what Marcus Rashford is doing is for publicity. It’s not because he doesn’t need it. Alex is a National League player who isn’t going to benefit from any publicity. What it tells me is that he’s a young lad wanting to do his bit in what is a difficult situation for so many people.

I don’t know Alex, I’ve never met him but just seen him play for our junior teams. I just think what he’s offered is brilliant.

Well done that man. I have East Lancs friends who have posted the same on FB and couldn’t be more proud of them. I’m pleased to see local councils from both major political parties have stepped in to do the same. Shame this government has no heart or brain.

Not taking anything away from him or any one else but this one of those facebook copy & paste share things. Just have to log on to my facebook newsfeed and its all over with pretty much the same wording from everyone

The more people and businesses do this the better so fair play everyone

Great to see so many people throughout the country sticking two fingers up to the callous decision made by the government this week.
Well done all.

Just read that Ashley Westwood, through Crewe Alex, is offering 100 meals per day.

So AW1 & AW2 - I’m so proud of both of you

Great what Morrison’s are doing, I’d imagine this is what will now happen throughout the UK

No surprise at all reading this. He is a good lad and comes from a good family who have supported him throughout his football career, particularly when he was with our youth team when they travelled to every match. Well done to Alex.

Even if it is for publicity who cares if it’s doing good.

I get the sentiments. And people do exist that do good for ‘likes’. But in this case and certainly in Rashfords, if they have the profile to do it and raise awareness for others to do it what’s the issue.

Rashford has not only raised a fortune himself. He’s raised GLOBAL awareness of the situation. Kudos.

Fantastic to see so many people actively repelling the cruel decision made in parliament this week. Shouldn’t have to come to this to feed some desperate families in the middle of a pandemic, but that’s where we are. Well done to the guy.
