Playing without fear.

Confidence on the promotion bounce. A la sheff Utd last year.

An attack minded manager.

Spend, spend, spend....plus the positivity of just being promoted. Let’s see where they are after a couple of years.

I didn't see tonight's performance, but what I have seen of them they play fast, attacking football, keeping the ball on the deck mostly, passing into space for players who tend to be moving no-stop. This has been created by an attack minded, football understanding manager, who it must be said has been backed in the transfer market by his board. I hate to say it, but they are a progressive club going places.

Bielsa.
Hopefully, one of the more prominent well-heeled clubs has their beady eyes on him....

27 shots against Villa. Pretty good for an away team.

He won't leave Leeds. He has to put his heart and soul into a club and the city before joining them. He is incredibly loyal.

I don’t think our season will be a disaster. Dyche has pulled us out of more critical positions. Lawro predicts we’ll beat Spurs, and I trust his professional eye to see beyond the gloom we sometimes have as fans.

I think Dyche will relish playing against Bielsa.

i detest them, but its hardly surprising they are doing well. they fought well in a tough league to gain promotion. same team has gelled over a long period and that makes them formidable. we had that once, but sadly appear to be in disarray.
leeds won't remain in such a lofty position, but they will finish safely.

Fair enough, but surely that writ only runs so far.
For example, if OGS got the bum's rush at OT and they came in for Bielsa and said you've got millions at your disposal (millions that would make Leeds resources look like petty cash) you don't think he's gonna be interested?

Loyalty? We'll see.

His managerial record doesn’t bear that out. In just five more games with Leeds, he’ll have equalled his managerial record with Ath. Bilbao - 112 games. Otherwise he seems to be a 1 1/2 season guy. It might be that with Leeds he’s found his holy grail in a board willing to work with him (he was manager of Lazio for only two days), but I doubt that at 65, his ambitions will rest with Leeds, if, say, Man U came calling. My guess, so I could be wrong. :)

They’ve beaten Fulham, Sheffield Utd & Villa. The champions of the championship would probably have been expected to do that. Their big bonus point was the draw with Man City.

But points on the board is always good. But let’s not worry to much about them yet.

They aren't that good, neither particularly are Aston Villa.

Strange times, strange results. I'm sure we'll get a fair share of them.

When the going gets tough, as it does for every team its how you recover that counts. We're in much better stead recovering from a bad run than any recently promoted team.

They have spent loads this summer strengthening to be ready and competitive this season and have a decent manager, meanwhile we have spent nothing and have lost key squad players meaning we are weaker then last season. No surprise is it. Leeds and their owners actually want to be in this league and it shows.

They have certainly spent big this season with two of their biggest signings not even starting last night. Also, according to Transfermarket, they actually made a good profit of over £20m on player deals last season using the loan market very well
But, whoever convinced Bielsa to go to Leeds pulled off the best deal.
He would appear to have improved a fair number of very average players. The likes of Phillips, Dallas, Ayling, and Bamford have come on very well. Add astute deals such as Klich, Harrison, Meslier and Poveda and you get what appears to be a side more than good enough for survival in this league
The manager is also not afraid to make substitute moves at any time if things are not working - he subbed the central midfielder halfway through the first half last night because he was already yellow carded and struggling in the game

It’s a simple answer. A manager who built a team with Championship resources and organises them well. Furthermore accent on fitness to play a pressing game.

What is a “key squad player”? Someone only good enough to be a squad player but somehow he is key?

Define a “key squad player” for me

They have the desire to rapidly pass and run forwards with the ball, whilst we have the desire to pass it backwards or sideways before hoofing it aimlessly.

It dispels the myth on here that a team has to spend millions of pounds in order to string a few passes together and play some positive football.

Their strength is in the whole team being fast enough to join attacks and then sprint back if needed.

We probably only have Charlie Taylor that can get back from being out of position quickly. So our players tend to stay rigid.

How does it do that? They spent about £100m in the last window.

Got a manager and coaches who understand football, wasn't afraid to make early sub when player was close to being sent off, to protect the gameplan, got to applaud this guy and stop the jealousy, from many claret fans, at the moment they are streets ahead of us, and before you say they have spent millions, has SD not over his tenure?? And look where we are!!

Plenty of their lineup last night were signed cheaply or Championship journeymen till Bielsa got hold of them.

Felt they ran out of steam a bit in the 2nd half against Wolves last Monday, but last night they were excellent against a vastly improved Villa side. Definitely carried the momentum forward from last season and playing very expansive football. Think the'll finish it the top half.

Yes Leeds after many many attempts with Previous manager not being up to it or given a chance they appear to have unearthed a good un. We still have a very good man in charge and tbf its early days for us.

As you say, "I never watched the game" so you don't have a clue what you are talking about

I want Burnley to beat Leeds every time we play them but I just don't get this obsession by many on here to call them down when they play the type of football we can only dream of

Depends how you define enjoyable football. Even last season we played some great stuff, and against the better sides too. Man U away, Spurs and Arsenal at home were some great performances.

Against other teams we often have to play safety first to ensure we get the points.

There very well organised very good manager but so is dyche ( a bad start for us some forget all that’s gone before). But I’m certainly not on the big love in with Leeds, there on a crest of a wave and playing out there skins. But I would like people to judge them on a whole season,in some of the comments Leeds are far superior to us.Well I don’t think there will be much in it points wise at the end of the season between us both.

I think a combination of things fell into place for them, Radrizzani seems to be recruiting better than cellino ever did by the appointment of bielsa after sacking a few beforehand & bielsas is a excellent manager & obviously spending money as helped along the way, it was only a matter of time by the law of averages that they’d get it right just took them awhile tinkering.
