Re: Today's Footy
I can certainly see us finishing above Fuham, and possibly West Brom, as for the 3rd I'd throw Brighton & Newcastle into the mix, and Perhaps Southampton if Danny goes off the boil or picks up an injury. the one niggling worry for me is that both of those teams beat us relatively easily, and that's the type of games that we'll need to pick up points in to give ourselves a chance of survival.
I can't see Sheff Utd being down there for long, however the longer their winless streak continues the more the pressure will build on Chris Wilder and his team.
Decent weekend for us thus far, both the teams below us have come up empty-handed again, now the question is can we somehow take advantage and conjure up a result against Spurs, tough game for sure, but the incentive is there for us to steal a march on both Fulham & Sheff Utd.

strange though it may seem, I think beating Spurs is our best bet out of the expected top 6-8.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 10:05 pmI can certainly see us finishing above Fuham, and possibly West Brom, as for the 3rd I'd throw Brighton & Newcastle into the mix, and Perhaps Southampton if Danny goes off the boil or picks up an injury. the one niggling worry for me is that both of those teams beat us relatively easily, and that's the type of games that we'll need to pick up points in to give ourselves a chance of survival.

Who knows yet. For goodness sake we have only played four matches, yet you and others seem certain we are nailed on for relegation.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 10:03 pmSpijed,
You are the eternal optimist where BFC is concerned, something I admire in a strange way.
Please give me , and all of us, your bottom 3
Re: Today's Footy
I tell you what, I'll give you my bottom three if you can find me a positive post you've written in the past year.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 10:03 pmSpijed,

I can't be fairer than that, can I?

We are nailed on according to the bookies.
We have recorded our worse start.
We have spent next to sod all.
We have an aging squad.
not great, is it?
For the record, I think we'll stay up, not by much though.

We are bound to have a bad spell soon.
Re: Today's Footy
btw, we haven't recorded our worse start. That was two seasons ago when we had 1 point from 5 matches.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 10:18 pmWe are nailed on according to the bookies.

We have 1-2 games in hand on those around us.
Yes, we haven't spent much, but neither did we lose anyone important.
Yeah they're aging, but they aren't quite on their last legs yet.
Could be worse.
I also think we will stay up, closer to mid table.

No we aren't, the bookies think we're more likely to stay up than go down.

Re: Today's Footy
The omens aren't good for either Fulham or Sheff Utd if history is to be believed, teams rarely start so poorly and stay up, there is a couple of notable exceptions, namely CP in Hodgson's 1st season, but more often than not teams in their position don't survive.https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54677798
Re: Today's Footy
I wouldn’t class James as an attacking midfielder more a pacey direct winger (Lennon mould) and VDB is more of a central attack minded midfielder (Lampard)
