Giro d'Italia - Will today see another British rider win a Grand Tour

Post by Chester Perry » Sun Oct 25, 2020 11:48 am

that will be the 5th overall and 4th in 9 years - Tao Geoghegan Hart would be the youngest of them all

- it has been an incredible tour for Ineos Grenadiers all primed for Geraint Thomas before that horrendous accident - now they have 6 stage wins and are milliseconds of the Magila Rosa.

For those that have followed the race it has been a glorious 3 weeks with young talent shining through all over the place

It will take a puncture or a crash to stop him. He was a minute faster than Jai in the first longer TT.
Spot on about the young talent coming through. The future of cycling is glorious, if they can keep them clean.
Van Der Poel, Herschi, Pogacar, Geoghan Hart, Hindley, O'Connor, Almeida, Bernal and so many more.

Well done that man. The new name in British cycling? He needs to kick on now and replace Froome and Thomas.

Very interesting listening to Dave Brailsford afterwards - seems to want this punchy style of racing for Ineos going forward rather than the famous road train approach

It will be interesting to see how Geoghegan Hart moves on from this - not convinced he is up there with Roglic or Pogacar

It is interesting, and sounds like it has come from Ratcliffe himself.

We also have a young Brit up to 2nd in the Veulta today in Hugh Carthy looking the strongest of the GC riders as Ineos's Carapaz took the overall lead as Roglic was dropped

He’s not just a young Brit, he’s lancashire born and bred is Carthy- Used to train constantly through the Trough growing up. Did well at the Giro last year so hope he does even better in the Vuelta this year.

Congrats to Tao. Awesome win today

Absolutely made up for him - seems a really nice lad. Fair to say that a lot of circumstances combined to give the chance, but he held his nerve and grabbed it. Yesterday was one of the best races I’ve seen.
