Sad world we live in.
Off topic but my daughter has just been asked to go to scare kingdom, off a child who's parent is a teacher that is self isolating and offered to drive them there.
Sadly we seem the bad ones for saying No.
The human race is the worst thing to step foot on this planet.

Re: Bus Crash
Just seen this on my FB feed so couldn't avoid it. The standard of driving seems to be **** poor at the moment. I was going down burnley road towards padiham and a car came zooming out of the Lockyer avenue junction right in front of me and zoomed up the other side of the road towards Burnley. Had I arrived a few seconds earlier he would have gone right in to the passenger side of my pregnant partner. To say I was angry was an understatement. Similar here where people just aren't looking at junctions. It is pretty basic.

Did it show what happened? It was near the top lane of Clowbridge, on the corner, so assume either someone pulled out Of that junction as the bus was coming around the corner, or someone was overtaking on the wrong side?Wellsy1882 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 6:45 pmIts dash cam footage thats goin to be shown on tomorrows news. There was an ambulance there and another on the way as I was driving away, but assume nobody seriously injured?

It seems to show a Range Rover type vehicle pulling out on the bus, which shoots accross the road and crashes into dry stone wall. Luckily they collapse easier than a normal wall.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 7:19 pmDid it show what happened? The bus appears to flip the car around 180' before it veered off the other side of the road

Bus just looked to have stopped in the road when I arrived. Assumed it must’ve been a head on collision with someone overtaking on a blind corner.

Wow.
I thought the bus was going Northbound from its position when I arrived! How can you miss an X43 coming around the corner?
Feel so sorry for the bus driver and passengers- must’ve been a terrible shock.

Not pleasant viewing the dash cam video. Probably a blessing with all that’s going on that it wasn’t a packed bus on the way to Manchester on a Sunday.

Yes, I have been looking at them as they go past recently and there’s usually only a small number of passengers, which is sad in its own right given it was a much used service, but hopefully that was the case today.
Can’t be sunlight there, or blind spot at that angle. Can only assume they were not looking.
Hope it’s only walking wounded.

Re: Bus Crash
This crash could have ended up so much worse with it being a double decker bus. The car pulls out of the road going down the side of the reservoir i think. Pulls out right in front of the bus. How on earth he/she doesn't see the bus is beyond belief. I agree the standards of driving are shocking these days. I see dangerous and careless driving on a regular basis. It is just an extension of the attitude prevalent in modern society. A lot of people might as well go round giving everyone the middle finger.

It's just surprised me to see a clamber for a video of what could be a nasty incident, before any well wishing of the people involved. It comes across as a "handrubbing/eyebrow raising" "oh let's have a look at that one" type of post, when there could be people seriously injured or worse.

Would you believe the driver of the Range Rover blamed the bus being painted grey, same colour as the road surface for him not seeing it. Driver of the bus was lucky not to be seriously injured, the front of the bus was destroyed after hitting the wall.
My brother drives these buses so I had to check he wasn't involved.

In with you on this one. A few weeks ago, I happened to to be in a queue of traffic behind a car on fire, it looked like everyone was ok - the driver of the car was fine and the AA was with him.
I turned around and went a different way home, passing the fire brigade coming the other way. By the time I got home, which was no more than 5 minutes, it was on Facebook. With the make and colour of car, reg plate and everything.
Imagine being a family member seeing your family car on fire on Facebook with no other information?

Quite scary really. If you were on the top deck you’d have feared that toppling over as it so easily could have done. Driver lucky the grasses area was there to slow him down before it hit the wall.
Hope the police take the appropriate action.

Going off the video, the Range Rover driver should be forced to retake their test. They're either a very poor driver or thick. In both cases, they shouldn't be on the road.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 12:42 pmHaving seen that, massive well done to the bus driver. Looks like the cars behind the range rover were also on their way out too.
I know it was quite sunny at the time of the crash...I live round there - but there is no excuse whatsoever to exonerate the driver. Its very simply a case of him pulling out with looking at the ongoing traffic....in a way he's lucky it was a bus that was going relatively slowly as that could easily have been a car travelling at 40 or 50 miles an hour which could have been a hell of a lot worse.

Was it going slowly? I've been on X43 buses going at a fair pace around that bend towards Rawtenstall. In a way im glad that it was a solid motor such as a Range Rover, as a small runabout would have likely ended up looking like it had explodedTVC15 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 12:58 pmLooks like the cars behind the range rover were also on their way out too.

To be fair, when you compare the posters on here overall, with the ones who (a) post on Facebook Burnley fan pages and (b) reply to Burnley's tweets on Twitter, the posters on here make a 3 digit IQ.
Re: Bus Crash
I worked in Manchester for 30 years and lived up not far from the crash pretty much all my life. I know the x43s can get to a fair speed and the bus drivers obviously know that route like the back of their hands.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 1:00 pmWas it going slowly? Its just from what I see where that crash occurred the buses have only just got beyond the top of that big hill and don't tend to take that bend at great speed - well at least not as fast as the many of the cars many of which who have just put their foot on the accelerator as they know they have a good half a mile stretch they can go at 50 miles an hour (i see many cars hitting 70 or 80 miles an hour on that stretch when there is no traffic).
From the video it didn't look like the bus was going too fast but then he might have started to slow down anticipating that the driver was not looking or starting to inch out etc
Either way could have been a hell of a lot worse and hopefully there has been no injuries .
As for the driver of the range rover for me that needs to be a minimum 12 month ban for reckless driving. If that bus had been full or the bus driver not done so well etc it could have been a tragic disaster.
