Barnes has been an excellent player for us and deserves a bit more credit and respect from fans than comments like being a battering ram and there to elbow opponents.
But I can easily see that with the form of Jay in particular since Barnes was injured but also how well Vydra did how opinion could be split on who should be starting for us alongside Wood.
Personally for me it would be Jay but I don’t know their respective fitness levels like Dyche does and it’s a bit daft to think it’s anything other than a close cut decision who starts for us. But I do know that Dyche is picking what he thinks is his best team right now and loyalty or favourites don’t come into his thinking other than him knowing inside out what he believes Barnes brings to the team.

I thought exactly same. Thought at 65 was time for jay. But equally didn’t think we could justify bringing either of the front men off.

That said Barnes does has his limitations.

Although his offside left foot finish suggests otherwise.
Hit the back of the net from another offside position against WBA as well didn’t he.

Stop it now with the sensible!

No room for that!
Tell you something with Barnes, he never walks off with a dry jersey. Works his backside off for the shirt whenever he pulls on claret and blue, and I, for one, can’t ask more than that.

He creates absolute chaos in defenses. Jose talking about the risks that our front 2 create for oppositions- he didn’t want to sacrifice his big players for quicker ones to win the game.

If we had switched to Jay and the Messiah Vydra, Spurs would of brought on their quick players - suspect we would of lost by more than 1.

Also suspect Jay Rod is still coming back from his knock.

We created chances and Wood and Barnes linked well. My only complaint is we subbed too late

So what has Barnes done to warrant waltzing straight back in? Jay will have to work his nuts off now to get his place back. One rule for his favourites another for others.
PLEASE.........GO AND SUPPORT ANOTHER TEAM!

The way we play when Barnes is in the lineup is so mind-numbingly depressing. Jay should start when he's fit.

We have four excellent strikers. Someone has to choose two of them. We have a great manager. No problem with that scenario!

My thoughts as well.

No problems with Ash starting but Mourinho and his team knew exactly what to expect and maybe bringing Jayrod and Vydra on a bit sooner would have shaken things up a bit and help us create a few more chances.
