My wife normally texts me when she gets to work around 2.30pm. My mind works overtime anyway about her safety. Just got a call off her around 7 pm to say she had an accident on her way to work. She knocked herself out cycling to work. She thinks her chain seized. She can't remember anything untoward.
Ambulance staff wanted her to go to hospital but she went to work as staff are dropping like flies due to covid.
I guess the reason for the post is make sure your bike is properly serviced if you have chose the bicycle as a means to get to work. It could save your life

Sorry to hear that. Hope she recovers quickly and fully. Do keep an eye on her this evening as if she has been unconscious she could have suffered something a bit more serious which might not show itself for a few hours.

I hope she is ok now.

Post was mostly to ask people to make sure people check their bikes but I will be keeping and eye on her. Cheers for that though.

I’ve checked mine, she still won’t let me ride her.

As the weather gets wetter and days get darker definately worth making sure bikes and cars are in good working order. Hope your wife is ok.

I was lucky enough to conduct a " fit & proper owner's test " on the current MrsClarets4me, prior to the " takeover " in 1989 ... she passed with flying colours, although I'd have have preferred a higher score on " proof of funds " , as would she, I suspect !

On the playing side, our " all action " attack of the early years has evolved into a more mature sedate approach, but despite the odd loss of form, we've neither considered seeking new owners, and never placed each other on the " Transfer List " !!

I would echo others thoughts about keeping an eye on your wife especially if she has suffered a concussion as they can, speaking from experience be more serious than you initially believe

The Benedictine's expiry date is 11/27 .....

If anybody steals my bicycle they are liable to be killed because there's a drive-chain problem and sometimes the gears jam. Luckily it's happened when not in a high risk situation, otherwise i would already be dead, for example taking one's chances on a busy roundabout.

The answer is don't mix with traffic and keep off the roads where you can and don't take risks and maintain your bike.

I will 3rd, 4th..you know what I mean, about keeping your eye on the missus. As an Emergency First Responder I have seen called to several situations where, several hours after an event, someone has succumbed to concussion etc....is your missus a Key Worker? If she is then she can take advantage of Halfords bike tune up I think if it is still going....best wishes to her and a speedy recovery...

Those she works with should have insisted she went to hospital. You can’t be ******* about with head injuries. They should be ashamed of themselves to be quite honest. Make sure she’s okay.

They did tell her to go home apparently but short of physically chucking her off the property. Not much they could do and knowing the company, they're not the best at keeping employees happy. I personally agree with you though and was livid that she only told me at her first break at 7pm ish. She definitely should have gone to hospital. Touch wood. She seems ok though.
