Dithering Boris.
FFS, we should have had a COVID update at 4pm. They’re now saying 6.30 pm ish!!! What a buffoon. I’ve never voted Labour in my life, but this clown is beyond belief!! Who is pulling his strings?

Re: National Tier 4
Has it actually been announced what time this news conference has been delayed until? Because I’d quite like to hear this extremely important announcement, yet I don’t really want to have to watch BBC1 all night.
Re: National Tier 4
Some new stock due to arrive in November from what I have heard.
Government when they announced free flu jabs for the over 50s should have maybe consulted with the medical profession as they would have discovered that GPs etc are ordering their flu jabs for the year in the first quarter - as early as January for some.

Re: Dithering Boris.
They're probably arguing over which biscuits to have.
Re: National Tier 4
Exactly. It doesn't need a maths gcse to interpret the data showing the reduction in cases and deaths resulting from the last lockdown.
If we hadn't had it, what would the death rate be now? Through the roof and we'd have a lot more dead health care workers, nurses etc.
Why does there seem to be a correlation between lockdown benefit deniers and brexiteers on this thread?

Unbelievable ain’t it, but my mate also asked me the same question as someone at his work had said hospitals get paid 3 times as much for Covid admissions. The mind boggles why people make this stuff up.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:56 pmIs this question for real?

You csnt simply pile all the blame at the door of the government. You cannot. Yes the government will have some questions to answer but. Public Health England have a lot to answer for as have the NHS management. My daughter is a child psychologist in a Yorkshire hospital and she's had nothing to do since her entire caseload was cancelled due to her being lined up as an extra pair of hands, which didnt materialise, thankfully.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:43 pmI’m a very senior manager at Royal Blackburn Hospital and whilst I share your frustrations with what has happened to you personally you literally have no idea how bad things are, largely due to the fact of the mishandling of the crisis by the government.
You simply cannot ignore what the likes of Karol Sikora have been saying about the ticking cancer time bomb that's been created due to the entire focus of the NHS being on a virus that sadly kills , and each death is a tragedy for the family concerned , a tiny tiny percentage of people whose average age is 82. Which is the average life expectancy anyway.
How many younger people will die due to operations, treatments screenings and appointments being cancelled?

I wonder how many people tuned in, saw it was postponed until a time not known, and will now miss seeing this announcement from the horse’s mouth. It’s a good job this isn’t an important issue.

Who told us to cancel all elective patients in the first wave, the government. Who told us to discharge people into care homes, without the ability to be able to test them for Covid, the government. Hospitals didn’t choose to cancel your daughters caseload, the government instructed them too.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:59 pmYou csnt simply pile all the bland at the door of the government. Delays probably over the presentation and previous leeks given to the press.

I’ve no idea if those statistics are correct. Elective work is back underway now after all being cancelled by the government, but as you’d expect hospitals have a massive backlog to get through.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 6:06 pmI think I'm right in saying around 3500 men have been.diagnosed with prostrate cancer and have yet to receive any treatment whatsoever......

I do not want a 2nd lockdown.
I want the economy opened up again to generate tax revenue to pay for all of this.
I want the vulnerable to shielded.
I want the NHS to start looking beyond Covid-19 and start treating the backlog .

Re: National Tier 4
Personally no, we were heading into a pandemic which no one in the NHS has experience before so didn’t know the impact. We could have been completely overran, luckily we weren’t, one of the reasons we are now though is we are trying to keep as much of the elective programme going as possible.
Re: National Tier 4
Your efforts to absolve the government of any responsibility are spectacular.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:48 pmWhere have I said it's a hoax?
In a nutshell I've said
1, the NHS, and Public Health England have made what will turn out to be decisions that will, tragically, cost lives.
2, lockdowns dont work, they simply delay the inevitable and trash the economy that wont be there to pick up the bill for it.
The virus is real. However we know more about it now. We should isolate the vulnerable, learn to live with it using common sense and practical measures we can all do to protect each other. Treat the population like adults. Let the young at least try and make a start at rebooting their already precarious future's and restsrt the economy before it's too late.
Looks like you're going to have to change Starmer's nickname to Captain Foresight. I imagine that's going to stick in your craw.
Re: National Tier 4
I’m not disputing your figures, Ringo, and the impact that such things will have upon people now abs in the future. I don’t think though that you help yourself in putting your point across by suggesting that you’ll ignore any future support of the the NHS, from the public.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 6:06 pmIt could easily run into 10s of thousands.

The recognition of the NHS was not for the decision makers, be they Government, NHS Management or Civil Servants, it was for those on the front line, working in incredibly difficult circumstances and dealing with very distressing outcomes, for the most hardened professional.

Re: National Tier 4
Agree. And that's what the Government and NHESI are trying to do. You will know that. Damned if they do, damed if they don't. As you're a VSM in the NHS you'll know that all too well.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 6:13 pmPersonally no, we were heading into a pandemic which no one in the NHS has experience before so didn’t know the impact.
