Re: Spot the future Claret
When I lived up Loveclough more than a few of the players came to Loveclough Park to play tennis. I played Doug at singles one week. Played a cracking drop shot, to my mind, and the bugger was like a cheetah. Flying across the court to knock it past me. No shame to say I didn’t win.

When Doug Collins played for the Clarets in the 70's he became a bit of a regular at the Jester pub in Crawshawbooth/Loveclough.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 12:00 amWhen I lived up Loveclough more than a few of the players came to Loveclough Park to play tennis. He could be seen in there from time to time sometimes with team mates Leighton James, Ray Hankin and Paul Fletcher.

Which one is Collins? Central to the Team of the Seventies. Even then I could never understand all the stick he got from the crowd.

Re: Spot the future Claret
The style of the shirts puts it in the 50s.
My guess is Albert Cheesebrough, kneeling on the left.

unless they’re using an ‘old’ ball then it’s at the end of 1959/1960 season!

Is that a very young Willie Irvine, seated second left?

Re: Spot the future Claret
the lad next to Doug looks like Ashley Westwood...that would make him over 70 - so he’s not doing so bad!

If I’m not mistaken, the lad to the right of the keeper is a young Ade Akinbiyi...
