Annie Nightingale
50 years on Radio 1, I knew she'd been around for a while, but I had no idea it had been as long as 50 years, I remember listening to the likes of her and John Peel back in the dim and distant past, I haven't tuned into Radio 1 for over 20 years now, maybe it's an age thing as I don't follow the modern stuff as much as I used too, but either way that's a heck of an innings, and I'd imagine she's seen a number of changes down the decades.

Re: Annie Nightingale
She used to do a Sunday evening show straight after the charts in the 80s. After whatever (usual garbage) had been played as "Britain's Number One" there was invariably a great song to kick the programme off, with the trademark "Hi" from Annie before the vocals kicked in. A great listen over the years.

Cheers for the heads up giveusaB, yep BBC4 usually have decent musical content from the archives at the weekends, I often find out information and trivia I didn't previously know by watching their documentaries, and it presents a useful eye to how social attitudes have changed down the years around a wide range of issues.

One of the very best DJ's who deservedly received a CBE and was a pioneer for female DJ'S. Her Sunday night request show in the nineties was a must listen.
