Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Here we go again.
This is the usual fun title (acceptable in previous matches) and a simple welcome from Madge, to get us ready to punch above our weight and cheer on our heroes.
If either falls by the wayside, that's me done.
Right, now here we go.
Madge has been double training since lockdoen and yet taped in her shoebox as a precaution, I understand. The Holyone is strict!
This has made her doubly fired up!
I can sense a pent up desire in our heroes, to get the season rolling. The smell of 3 points has drifted into their nostrils!
Let's do this!
Come on you Clarets!

Ben Mee returns and we're also starting TWO wingers! We really need to win tonight, and I actually fancy us to do just that. COYC!

Great news about Mee. I'm a little surprised Jay hasn't come in but I can totally see Dyche's reasoning for sticking with Barnes, he needs to recapture his form. Strong performance and 3 points please lads.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Not sure about Barnes and Wood up top, but it's a huge boost to have the Mee/Tarks pairing reunited, and 3 strikers on the bench, blimey! when was the last time we had 3 strikers on the bench. Hopefully they won't be required, but I'd rather have the options available than not.

Much better team
I'd have preferred Jay to Ash, but maybe against Brighton its the right shout. Either way I'm happy.

Jay and vydra in lockdown got us some great results as a pairing, and brought us some great football, but let's hope tonight is the the turning point, time to start being positive UTC.

I didn’t mean a rule, more a contractual clause insisted upon by the selling club. Although I appreciate that is very unlikely.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 4:45 pmThere can't be a rule on that, he's our player not a loanee.
Perhaps he's injured?
Sussex by the Sea versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Well the folk running the board obviously wish to change it from what was started by HolyCustard and continued by me, these last years.
Madge, for some reason, has been frozen out. She is packing her bags, as I type. She knows where she is not wanted.
Similarly, I am out of the matchday thread. When we win, Naughty Madge will make an appearance (until she gets removed).
What a shame that folk who have never taken part, think they can change everything and rake out the uniqueness and fun?
Thanks to all who have shared the fun and emotion, over these past several years. Stay safe and always, Up the Clarets.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
If I were Jay I'd be pretty hacked off tbh. He was outstanding the second half of last season. Did more than enough to keep the shirt.

Re: Sussex by the Sea versus MIGHTY CLARETS
This is a shame Ian, I don’t personally care about the name of thread or Madge but do understand tradition and see that there is only fun in it so don’t see any harm. I truly can’t understand why it keeps getting removed. We aren’t part of the inner workings of the board so there may be correct and proper reasons but it seems a bit petty to me hey ho.IanMcL wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 4:53 pmWell the folk running the board obviously wish to change it from what was started by HolyCustard and continued by me, these last years.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
This match would have been a 'local game' for me as I moved to Chichester recently so about an hour away.
COME ON SUPER BURNLEY OUR SEASON STARTS HERE
Having said that I cant stand watching these empty stadium games and that fact we get so unfairly treated by refs and VAR so I prefer to 'keep an eye' on things on here.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
After a few days of below normal temp's here n SW Ontario, and our first snowfall of the season, we're now back up to well above normal temp's, currently 19 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Final golf game of the season booked for Saturday.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out our next two games are key if we're going to survive. I really don't understand why JRod isn't starting, we're much more of a threat when we try to keep the ball on the deck.
Come on you Clarets!

There were 4 covid positives in the PL last week. As the club tell us nothing could Stephens possibly be one of them?

The JRod situation is a bit hard to swallow. He's a better player than Barnes and the team plays better with him in it, yet after 9 months out (and before he got injured Barnes wasn't in great form), he has come straight back in.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Lets hope they keep someone close to their right back-Lampety. He ran riot at Turf Moor last game of season. If the coaches have not even thought of this, then there is something seriously wrong in the way we prepare
We beat Palace last time by nullifying Zaha, largely through Bardsley and Brownhill supporting each other
Just saying !!

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
The stats sound good, but we need to make a result happen tonight, it won't be handed to us despite our recent good record at the Amex.
Brighton beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor on the final day of last season, but that is their only win in six Premier League fixtures against the Clarets (D3, L2).
Burnley are unbeaten in the past four league meetings at the Amex Stadium, although three of those games ended in draws.
Brighton have won just one of their past 12 Premier League home matches (D5, L6), and are winless in seven at the Amex Stadium since beating Arsenal in June.
Graham Potter's side have allowed their opponents just 21 shots on target in this season's Premier League, a joint-low with Manchester City, who have played one game fewer.
The Clarets are without a victory in seven Premier League matches, their longest winless run since an eight-game streak two years ago. That sequence ended with a 1-0 victory against Brighton in December 2018.
It's worrying that they don't give teams many clear cut chances, means any half chances we'll need to take tonight, and that's been our achilles heel this season our finishing has been surprisingly poor.
