Scooby-Doo co-creator Ken Spears dies aged 82

Post by tiger76 » Tue Nov 10, 2020 8:12 pm

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-54885788 Sadly he passes just months after his co-creator Joe Ruby, I always found this show funny in my youth, indeed I'd probably still find it funny now, especially Scooby/Shaggy and their antics, and of course they always solved the mystery in the end.

RIP Ken

The new one, Scoob, is particularly good. Very much jokes aimed at those who enjoy the nostalgia, rather than the target demographic of kids, methinks. ;)

I only mention those two as I haven’t seen the others, will look to squeeze them in over Christmas ;)

Aw :-(

The early Scooby-Doo's were my favourite cartoon series as a kid.

Didn't like the ones with Scrappy Doo or his other dozy cousin though or the ones where they started adding 'guest celebrity characters' like Batman and Abbot n Costello etc.

The originals are the best!

RIP Mr Spears and thanks for the memories

“Like, let’s get out of here Scoob!”

Originals the best, show was ruined by scrappy imho.

It was always the caretaker...

I’ll never forgive Scrappy Doo for ruining my favourite cartoon! RIP Ken.

I was talking about to my brother about cartoons that always carry on, they are re-badged and updated constantly though different generations, and Scooby Doo is one of them. There always a tv series, comic book movie or some kind of spin-off or reboot - even to this day.

The other ones are things like Addams Family, Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtles and more recently Pokemon. We started talking about it because I watched Space Jam with my 7 year olds, and they didn't they know who the Loony Tunes were...

This was another thread that concerned me. Although not Ken and although a different spelling of the surname, I have a friend whose name is K Spiers and he's 82. I just realised he couldn't be dead, I've literally just come off the phone after speaking to him.
