And we finally suffer our first defeat of the season in 1972/73 but remain top of the league

No celebrating that night in the student bar. Couldn't believe it but all I could sense in my head was older people than me back home in Lancashire repeatedly saying 'typical Burnley'. I'm guessing it's never gone out of vogue after an unlikely defeat though I hasten to add not by me.

Always been the case that there are people who just can't wait for us to lose so they can come up with that one. Definitely hasn't gone out of vogue. This was one game when we just couldn't have expected to lose. Thankfully it didn't happen too often that season.

The only one of the four that could have been anticipated was the QPR one. What a season it was.

A mate came on TM for that game, a Leeds fan. I've not allowed him near since, though he's sat in the away seats a good few times.

I've never felt so angry. I nearly rang the police.

We can't lose to that.

As a child I used to go up to Peter Higgs and Keith Mcnmee and shout at them and demand a public inquiry.
