I agree you can understand why the play-offs are going ahead, as they have a purpose, and the finalists need to be clarified, but is there really any need for pointless travelling, and it's not even the current situation, there's also the welfare of the players to consider in a crowded season, I thought the whole point of the NL was to avoid international windows being cluttered up with friendly games.

I don’t understand why they have to add a pointless friendly to make 3 international games per international window. It makes no sense. Why not just play the two nations league games and thats it, why shove an extra friendly in? I thought the nations league was so there were leas pointless friendlies? I presume like everything else it comes down to money? All the big clubs complain their players play too many games and get tired but don’t bat an eyelid at 3 international games within a week. Something is off.

The whole idea is more FA driven nonsense. Why play more meaningless friendlies and why the idea of a Nations league in the first place in a congested season interrupted by stop starts. The World cup is enough with its qualifiers

The television deal means they have to squeeze these friendlies in

Their argument is that they need the warm up game.
World Cup and Euro Champs are enough for me f+ck the Nations League.

I suspect it's down to money. Don't Fifa hold the rights on international matches? If so the more that are played the more money coming to Fifa. I don't know whether or not this is the case, but that's my first thought on it.
