Re: England vs Republic of Ireland
This is a fitting tribute to both Nobby and Tony. Shame there's no fans to witness it.
Earlier today, football said goodbye to an England legend as the funeral of Nobby Stiles was held.
The 1966 World Cup winner died on 30 October aged 78.
The former Manchester United midfielder's hearse passed by Old Trafford earlier today, with fans paying their respects by leaving flowers outside the ground.
Stiles, as well as former Blackpool and England goalkeeper Tony Waiters - who died on 10 November - are due to be remembered at Wembley tonight with a minute's applause, while the players will wear black armbands.

Watching NI v Slovakia currently 0-1, but was is noticeable is the actual crowd, only 1060 inside but it’s miles better than no crowd.

Re: England vs Republic of Ireland
Can’t say I’m a huge fan of Winks but this midfield looks so much more dynamic when we don’t have two players holding. James is starting to look like a real talent. Grealish just makes things happen.

Re: England vs Republic of Ireland
The pool of players England have reminds me of when I used to have Championship manager is the early 2000’s I’d have all the good players but not a clue how to pick a good 11

Re: England vs Republic of Ireland
Sven 2004 campaign (including qualifying) was easily the best England team ive seen since Ive been old enough to follow them ('86 World Cup) but he's another one where peoples personal opinion of him cloud their judgement of his footballing talents

Re: England vs Republic of Ireland
They are playing well, but you have to take into account the calibre of opposition, and I don't think England's problems are in the attacking areas.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 8:34 pmYet another good attacking England performance........Southgate out
However Grealish is running the show tonight, and on this form he'll be a hard man to leave out.

Check out the dross we used to serve up in friendlies against hopeless teams under Robson and Venables cos under Southgate we are streets ahead in terms of quality and entertainment

Re: England vs Republic of Ireland
Grealish can surely make the starting 11 behind the front 3 in midfield.
But as mentioned, the quality England have in attack is frightening... Grealish, Sancho, Kane, Greenwood, Rashford, Sterling and that's 6 that come to mind immediately.

It's a bit too easy for England.
I'm only watching it from now on in the hope that NP makes a couple of world class saves.

Re: England vs Republic of Ireland
Grealish should be starting every time for England. He’s got that Ronaldo at Man Utd and Bale at Spurs (First time) about him. Can drag his team to victory. Not saying this because of those 2 I mentioned above, but he’s a Real Madrid player imo.
The progress he made in the Championship is phenomenal.
