It refers to the prospect of spectator events. Not the actual game itself. They’re not going to ban elite sport altogether are they, when they kept it going through lockdown.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 7:04 pmWell I am confused tonight a lot. Took the screen shot from Sky news tier rules explained. Says elites sports will be banned.
Mail online is saying majority of North West will be in tier 3.
So unless Sky got it wrong or football not an elite sport, then It’s kinda self explanatory.
To be fair the football dished up without fans is anything but elite, it’s been dire.
Fans back

Re: Fans back
It’s very specific to me.
Elite sporting events banned. Now Sky may have it wrong but that’s what it states.
But bear in mind tier 3 was being made a tighter set of restrictions.
Over the coming days things will become clearer, but that’s what is says.
Re: Fans back
It's just worded wrongly. They aren't going to shut down the Premier league after all this time.

Re: Fans back
As I understand it, this is SO WRONG !
So many matches have been "Away Wins" this season, far more than ever before.
Allow fans (Probably Home Fans Only) in to Brighton, Sarfhamton and Fulham Home games will give them an unfair edge.
Either ALL teams, or NONE !

Re: Fans back
Seems the Premier League are pushing back on this saying it is not financially viable for clubs to operate at such a low capacity. Rather no fans than a handful of fans....conyoviejo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 4:54 pmSurely the Premier league will fight against this stupid decision and say all clubs or no clubs. Then again probably not.
Re: Fans back
I do agree regarding fairness but fans being allowed in was brought in to allow lower league clubs a financial lifelineRalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 11:47 pmAs I understand it, this is SO WRONG !

Re: Fans back
For most if not all the PL teams this is probably true, the bigger concern is the lower league clubs, and even getting a couple of thousand through the turnstiles could be the difference between them surviving or not for the rest of the season.ClaretDiver wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 8:40 amSeems the Premier League are pushing back on this saying it is not financially viable for clubs to operate at such a low capacity. Re: Fans back
There's more to football than the Premier league. This will be a lifeline to clubs lower down the pyramid. Too many people just selfishly viewing how it affects them personally.

Re: Fans back
But it doesn't need to be applied to the PL. Having a couple of thousand supporters at Arsenal or Spurs or the other Southern clubs will make virtually no difference to their finances, but it could give(e.g.) Fulham, Brighton and Palace an edge over us in a tight relegation battle if they have supporters to urge them on.
I'm all for it in the lower tiers though as it could be the difference between surviving or not.
BUT shouldn't gate revenue be put into a central pot and split evenly between ALL clubs if some are allowed fans and others not?

Re: Fans back
That has got to mean EVENT in terms of people watching
No way are they going to cancel sport and take the fines from broadcasters as we have already been told even in tier 3 we can play golf and 5 a side as amateurs so why could professional player not play
It means event in terms of crowds

Even more clear in paragraph 58 c) of the above document.dsr wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 10:56 amThey are specific that elite sport can continue. See page 25 of this document.

" Elite sport itself will continue to be permitted in all tiers."
Re: Fans back
Iam sure it does mean fans , but has now been worded that way in at least two articles, and nobody has questioned it

I am confused, I cannot find any statement saying football can carry on. It does say on page 30 elite sports cannot continue. See screen shot of page 30 of the document you linked.dsr wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 10:56 amThey are specific that elite sport can continue. See page 25 of this document.

It will continue
Re: Fans back
It’s an odd one for me this. I can understand tying businesses such as pubs and restaurants to the tier of the area in which they are located as a large part of their business will be from people living in the same area. Football, much like any other live event, is different though, it draws people in from a wide geographical area so the tier in which a stadium is located is less important. Turf Moor itself isn’t going to spread infection it’s the people in it. So unless they insist that clubs only take ticket applications from addresses in the same or lower tier than the ground it will be inherently risky to allow anyone back watching matches live.

The rules are not to leave your area at Tier 3.
Nothing to do with the football club. It’s to do wether people give a **** about the rules or not. I already know the answer to that.
