Better, although still a way to go. Lowton been a weak link imo this season. We're still putting ourselves in trouble with ridiculous back pass far too often too. 3 points, let's hope it spurs them on

Backlash or backpass? Works either way I suppose.

A relief to get the first win, but it was stressful!

Pope 8 - his late save kept us the 3 points - some very good work all game - except usual distribution issues

Lowton 5 - has been a problem for a couple of years - loses his man far too often - better teams will punish us
Tarkowski 8 - dealt well with the physical palace threat
Mee 8 - commanding performance - great to have him back and in partnership with Tarky
Taylor 7 - got boxed in and couldn't get forward often - defended well

Have we got the worst midfield in the league? I can't see anyone of these 4 starting in any other PL team - especially on current form.
We can't keep the ball - it's just frenzy and panic at times
Gudmundsson 5 - very rarely takes on defenders any more - first thought is backwards - the miss was truly dreadful
Westwood 6 - gets stuck in, but gives the ball away and also looks to go backwards at every opportunity
Brownhill 5 - lightweight and looks a bit out of his depth at this level - goes missing
McNeil 5 - He's not good enough to play the free role in midfield. He needs to be out on the left and playing like the winger he is. Typified by the panic back pass which nearly cost us dearly

You have to feel sorry for Brady, but why risk him if he's not fit?
At least we should have Cork back soon, hopefully.
I can't understand why we didn't persist with Benson? There has to be a route to the 1st 11, or what is the point of reserve teams?
He should be getting game time to have the chance to perform at this level. Could he do much worse than some at the moment?

Wood 8 - took the goal well and could have had others - held up the ball well and was always a threat
Rodriguez 8 - intelligent footballer and makes a difference working with Wood
This is our best pairing - note to Dyche..should Wood come off - Barnes to replace / - should JRod come off - Vydra to replace.

Dyche - 8 - Finally changed our strikers. A typical Dyche win - well done.

Roy Hodgson - 10 - Articulate, intelligent and measured post match review. He's a real class act in this game of mega egos and self promoting prats.

Pope 9
Lowton 5 couldnt cope with Eze
Tarkowski 7
Mee 8
Taylor 7
JBG 6 Glorious chance fluffed
Brownhill 6
Westwood 7
McNeil 5 sideways, sideways, backwards...his position in the team needs sorting. Does he play for Eddie Howe?
Wood 7
Jay 8 The class we have missed. That puts all the arguments re Barnes firmly to bed.

I’d agree with most of that, I agree that Brownhill sometimes struggles and goes missing after being thrown straight in the deep end since joining us, I also think there’s the makings of a good premier league midfielder once he has time to settle and improve
