RIP Maurice Setters
My first memory is of him playing for ManU and winning the FA Cup in ‘63. Many will remember him as Jack Charltons right hand man at Sheff. Wed. and with Rep of Ireland.
RIP Maurice.

Re: RIP Maurice Setters
That's two from the Man U team in that final who have died this month. Alex Quixall died less than two weeks ago.

One of the regular names from 1960s first division football. I remember him more for Stoke. RIP

As hard as nails, bandy legged but could play a bit. Key member of Man Utd team post Munich also excellent WBA side. Jimmy Mac told tales of Setters’ tackles one of which contributed to Mac playing with his arm in a sling. RIP.

Re: RIP Maurice Setters
I recall seeing him play for Man U in the early 60s; notable for his bowed legs & quite recognisable on the pitch. I probably saw him earlier playing for WBA but have no recollection of that. A west country boy I think and a defensive midfielder in that United team alongside more forward thinking Crerand.
RIP Maurice. A very decent innings including over 400 matches in English leagues, mostly in the top flight.

Again, a football card, when young. These players are all fading away, however our memories live on.

Re: RIP Maurice Setters
RIP to one of many tough-tackling, no nonsense type players from the 60's. It's strange the many different things that remind us of certain players but in Dec.63 after beating Man Utd. at home 6-1 we went to OT two days later and were beaten 5-1. Our '1' was a Maurice Setters o.g.
Re: RIP Maurice Setters
I remember him at West Brom where he made his name during the late fifties. He was in a West Brom team that was near the top of the league for several seasons. But they were quite not as good as us. He came close to making the England team. Then was transferred to Man U.
RIP
