They need to get rid of the armpit rule... Am not a lover of Leeds ... but when Bamford was ruled offside for pointing where he wanted the ball played was bloody ridiculous

Scrap it. Open the field up for players.

Here's an easy one. They could make it so that "level" is onside, like it used to be until VAR when they decided that "level" is a fictional concept because no two men's fingernails are exactly the same length.

Measure offside from the position of feet only. Get rid of this nonsense of trying to measure where one player's upper arm was in relation to other players' knees or heads or other body parts. Allow a "margin" for movement - let's say 20 cm (8 inches for us pre-metric people) - that takes account of the attacker moving towards the goal while the defenders (may be) moving away from the goal at the time another attacking player is estimated to have played the ball.

It's probably a decent summary of what our eyes (and brains) have been doing all the time before the VAR cameras started to try and apply "faux-science" to the process.

I think I'd rather see the opportunity to check players against the advertising hoardings. Just for a few weeks to sort out grealish, salah and all those other entitled-to-go-down types.

Do the offside from the feet only, will save so much time effort and confusion.

Here’s an easy fix.

Liners give offside decisions old school way.

Each team gets two incorrect reviews per game. Works well enough in cricket.

The biggest concern to me is the fact that in every match that is covered by VAR there are normal offsides which are not being flagged, even when the move has broken down.
In recent matches I have seen corners given when the original decision should have been offside. The ARs are on a hiding to nothing because they are being told not to flag and it will be sorted by VAR, however, that is only when a goal is scored or a possible penalty is awarded.

The save that Nick made last night from Benteke is worth another look because when the cross came in it was nodded on and I thought that Benteke was then offside, however, no flag and play eventually restarted with a throw in to Palace. It was a very tight call and you will always get that, however, that is the game and even VAR is just another opinion even when they draw lines on the pitch!

super easy fix, all goals Burnley FC score are valid, all those notched by opponents are clearly offside

I liked Graeme Souness's idea of making it not offside if any part of the attackers body is onside when the ball is kicked.

Might still get the odd contentious fine line decision but surely not as many as we've seen since VAR so far and none as ridiculous as the Bamford one where he was effectively given offside for pointing.
