Bielsa

Been nominated for FIFA coach of the year! Give me strength. Why do the powers that be fall over dirty Leeds at every opportunity?

To date, what's he achieved exactly, other than getting Leeds promoted and getting them up to 14th in the Premier league?

I like the guy, but he hasn't done anything to warrant this.
It was a lot easier for him to get Leeds up, than SD get us up......So it begs the question.

SD won the league, top scorers, fewest defeats and a run of 23 23 undefeated and he couldn't even win Manager of the Year. Instead it went to the Manager of a team that finished third in the league and then choked in the play offs. That really did beggar belief, especially as the MOTY in every other division went to the Manager of the league winners.

His almighty Leeds team were the second lowest points champions in the last 7 seasons. In fact Burnley were actually promoted as runners up on the same points his Leeds team achieved. Over rated doesn’t even cover it

Youve gotta to factor in the Championship was a lot tougher last season compared to the seasons we went up. I dont think Dyche would have got us up with the level of competition Bielsa faced last year

Aye, much tougher, there were another 23 teams all wanting to win promotion and it was a long, long season because they had to play 46 games and had to cope with some poor refereeing decisions and had injuries.
I can really see why it was a lot tougher than every other season and I'm sure that those fighting for promotion this season will tell you that it is much easier now because Leeds have been promoted.

Son’s goal against us has been shortlisted as Goal of the Year.
I wonder what would have been the feeling if Dyche had done what Bielsa did in the top of the table clash at the end of the season against Villa. Allowing Villa to score without challenge from the kick off after a controversial Leeds goal . Would Dyche even have done what Bielsa did?
Leeds needed to win and I think subsequently lost out on promotion with Villa going up.

Its the quality not the quantity of the 23 other teams that made Bielsa's promotion a better achievement than our two under Dyche.

At the end of the day Bielsa is an absolute legend and if Dyche has even half the managerial career that Bielsa has had he will be a very happy man.

I didn't realise Bielsa had won so little, the way people go on about him I thought he'd have far more trophies.

It will be difficult for any promotion achievement to the PL to be a bigger achievement than Dyche’s first promotion considering our position the season before and the small number of players we used that season.
I sometimes think the quality of the opposition in the Championship is overstated and see nothing in West Brom and Fulham to make me think different.

I think Elizabeth that was the season before so shouldn't have been relevant to this season's award. Leeds did win the "Fair Play" award that season (a season that included Bamfords notorious dive), a title that surely anyone who remembers the antics of the Revie era must stick uncomfortably in the throat. Leeds and fair play in one sentence is likely to cause a computer breakdown somewhere.

He's done a good job no more no less, I can't understand all the hype, Farke, Wagner & Wilder have all got teams promoted on much lower budgets in recent seasons.

That was also the season that included the notorious Spygate affair, that's hardly cricket as they say, and certainly shouldn't have been deemed deserving of the "Fair Play" award.

lol he coaches a team that has 23 attempts on goal away at everton - that is just a dream for us !!!!!! at least if they go down it will be trying and at least they seem to be "in every game they play in", that always gives you at least a chance of winning a game.

Tbf as a team they look perfectly at home at this level. The likes of Norwich and Huddersfield had some good results but they were almost like cup upsets. And it's not like Bielsa spent a fortune in the Championship. He's got a few Championship journeymen playing the best football of their careers.

So are you saying had a team outside the top 6 won either the FA Cup or League Cup in 17/18 you would hold back any praise for Dyche in spite of everything else he has achieved as our manager?

They've been great to watch, even last year away at Aesebal in the cup they took it too them, yes they'll lose the odd game at this level, probably heavily a couple of times, but they certainly have a go.

Sometimes they need to score 2 or 3 to win, but it's good they can, but also they are capable if 1-0 shut outs.
It just seems which ever result they get, they still create loads of chances and are very easy on the eye.

I hate it, I'd rather it be Fulham doing what Leeds are, and Leeds doing what Filham are..

Everybody on here used to tell me Dyche plays hoofball because he doesn’t have millions to spend. Now go through the Leeds team and tell me how they can pass a football?

Some of their football against Everton today was outrageously good.

Passing a football 20 yards then moving in to a space to receive it again shouldn't be difficult for any footballer regardless if the position he plays, never mind those playing in the premier league.

Chris wilder showed that last season with a team that cost about 84p.

Dyches style is effective, he is just a modern day Allerdyce type, it will not change much from being a defensively minded coach hoping to nick a goal.
On the flip side to that though, I don't think if he did have a pot of riches to spend he would choose to buy ageing pros and injured players to sign.

The only long term plan in place was to make a certain someone lots of money, so it's been a case of stop gaps, cheap options and do a job types for a few windows now.

Young, exciting, forward thinking, creative, pacey players arent available for the fees we want to pay, as we seem to be 18 months behind the curve on spotting these players so when BFC eyes stumble on them their price has doubled and we cannot afford them.

Remember in 2019 we were told we bid 20m for Phillips and 12m for Adams from MG, we ended up with Danny Drinkwater, Erik Peiters and BPF for a combined 4m.
Then poof as if by magic the money disappeared and we were skint...

Garlick Is very clever with gaining the sympathy from fans, I remember when we bid £9M for Deeney and ended up with Sordell.

Bielsa gets plaudits because most football fans appreciate watching good football. Leeds will never be in a dull game with their style of play. Can you imagine watching some of our games as a neutral? Its almost enough to put you off football for life.
