Always loved that photo.
Question for those old enough to remember. I assume this picture is taken at the corner of the ground opposite the Park View where the club shop is now. So what’s that building at the corner of the ground that has a car parked outside it? Is it a house, a shop, did it belong to the club?

It was the groundsman's house. Tommy Danns at that time, I think.

Ah ok. Was it purpose built as such or a house that existed before the ground did?ClaretPope wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 10:13 amIt was the groundsman's house. Tommy Danns at that time, I think.
I assume it was demolished when the Bob Lord Stand was built.

Re: 1962 Cup Final Preparation
It would be Tommy at the time. I think Maurice Catlow was the last to live in there and it was early 1970s when it was demolished. The old club shop building was built in two stages and I think the house was demolished to make way for the second part of that building.ClaretPope wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 10:13 amIt was the groundsman's house. Behind the ice cream van was the big exit gate from the Bee Hole End.
Re: 1962 Cup Final Preparation
I see the ice cream man is from Blackburn according to the sign on the wheel arch! I wonder if he sabotaged us with dodgy ice cream that lead to the defeat...

Re: 1962 Cup Final Preparation
Can we name all the players on this pic? A few I am struggling with that i am sure some of our more experienced posters who were alive in this era can help with:
Adamson, Elder(?), (?), McIlroy, Pointer, Angus(?), Harris, Cummings, Connelly(?), Miller, Blacklaw

Re: 1962 Cup Final Preparation
I’d say that’s the side of Alex Elder’s face.

Could be Elder next to Adamson and the other player obscured could be Connelly

Wonder where Jimmy Robson was? Almost definitely Walter Joyce between Harris and Pointer I would say.

I’m certain it’s Walter Joyce. Maybe Jimmy Robson doesn’t like ice cream. The Enclosure wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 1:39 pmWonder where Jimmy Robson was? Almost definitely Walter Joyce between Harris and Pointer I would say.

Jimmy Robson can just about be seen, fractionally to the left of Brian Miller.

Re: 1962 Cup Final Preparation
That was a great strip particularly the shirt and that was one of the reasons that I became a Clarets Fan. I was 10 years old at the time of the 62 Cup Final and I remember at the time having the Clarets' Team photograph in colour where the players were wearing that strip. I watched the Final live on TV but in black & white.
I often wonder if are there any of the original shirts from the Wembley Final around now.

Re: 1962 Cup Final Preparation
The boots they’re wearing are Adidas. Think from looking at Brian Miller’s and Tommy Cummings and the writing near the heel, they are what became the ‘Chile 62’ model. Adidas re-issued them as a trainer a few years back.

Between the wall and the groundsman's house was a Police Box used on matchdays.

The cream of Burnley
Not sure on the picture. But those socks look great. We should always have hoops.

Re: 1962 Cup Final Preparation
Good to see this, I posted it the other day but the post was taken down I assume because I didn't know who the photo belonged to so couldn't acknowledge them ( I actually emailed Mr Boden to see if he could help but alas not) . Given it was 1962 the photo quality is very good. Great kit enhanced by proper boots in black and white, personally hate the highlighter pen rubbish players wear these days.
