Wow, baptism of fire for BPF. Best of luck to the lad.

In other news, Robbie Brady is suffering from a twisted sock and will be touch and go for some time... ;)

Well, at least he will get a game with plenty to do and it's not one where we have any expectations.

In a very odd way, it's an ideal way to make your debut (even if you may well concede three or four).

He played really well against them a few weeks back despite the scoreline, that first half was excellent.

He has already made his debut.

However the pressure is off him, it's a free hit where us conceding 4 or 5 is the norm.

Why wasn’t Pope substituted on Monday?

You could see they were doing the tests required after he'd got back to his feet. He came through with flying colours at the time and there was no need for him to come off.

I thought players had to go off? It doesn’t look good a player can’t play 5 days after a head injury but carried on in the game.

They have to be checked and he was checked thoroughly. The doctor was there along with other medical staff and the appropriate tests were done. Had he not been fine then he would have had to come off. But because he's taken that blow on the head there are protocols. I believe had both games been on the Saturdays he would have been fine.

But make no mistake - Burnley FC got absolutely nothing wrong on Monday in their decisions.

Big chance for Bailey to step up, confident he will do so.

We're always going to lose this game and the only question ever is "by how many?" So let's just hope none of them are down to him as he's clearly got what it takes to step up should Pope be out for longer at some point or indeed if he moves on.

Erm less of the negativity “by how many” man!

We are in form side given City have drawn 2 and lost one of their last 4 with only a slim win over the bottom club. Scoring only 3 in the process.

I fancy us to at least draw.

I wouldn't be disappointed to see a few changes to be honest. Pieters, Bardsley, Vydra and Barnes for starters. Even someone like Benson playing in a midfield 5 perhaps. Some of our bigger players might need to rest up for more winnable games.

was it pope who did his shoulder in the last home win against palace? when they sacked the manager afterwards? or was it heaton?

That doesn't sound like a bad idea bearing in mind who we are playing JT.

“Sean Dyche has confirmed that neither Dale Stephens nor Robbie Brady are likely to be available although we understand the recent Brady injury is not a serious one.”

So Brady should be back in February then

Has all the hallmarks of being a classic introduction.

And if he keeps a clean sheet and plays well then what. 😱😱

I remember being stood behind the goal in the Cricket field stand when Tom did his shoulder and thinking we are in trouble this game and for the rest of the season,i needn't have worried Pope stepped up in that game and for that season, and the rest is history, whatever happens against City, the young lad won't displace Pope

I wouldn't have thought so... 🤔

Nick is our Number One ... 🙂

But Bailey is a fine young back-up keeper 🙂

He's a good keeper, great reflexes.
I hope he has an absolute stormer.

What’s his kicking like though? That’s the benchmark we judge keepers on now

He takes a decent free-kick.
Got an assist a few months ago for N.I.

Goalkeepers don't have to go off, and the effects of a head knock are often delayed so he could well have been OK to continue.

Yes BPF in the net today, nothing serious and would have played if we’d been Monday nights game by all accounts

Im confident BFP will have been working hard all week on his technique around bending down and picking the ball out of the back of the net.

Sadly he looked like a rabbit in the headlights all day. Don’t think he’s made a single save and been fortunate with two blunders.

Little harsh.

They have only had 6 shots on target and I’m not sure Pope would have done much better against them
