Mcneil - have we seen enough?

Just not up to it in his current form. Concerning and not good to see the transformation

At fault several times today, just nearly gave another away. Unlucky with the slip. But slack with his distribution

All them shocking defensive mistakes and you choose to have a go at McNeil?

Pathetic

He hS been really poor this season. Desperately needs some time to recover his mojo.

There is zero attacking threat from him. His first instinct is to go backwards and not lose the ball. Its either coaching or confidence either way its painful to watch.

He’s been our only ‘threat’ today digging out three decent crosses even though he has Kyle Walker and two or three others players all over him.

He’s not been at fault today. The first goal was down to a **** pass from Tarkowski, if blame must be apportioned.

Aye and let's replace him with all those creative reinforcements we got in the last transfer window.

you must be watching a different game, he's been closely marked by one of the most skilful sets of players in the world and he's still managed to beat a few and get crosses in today.

I don't blame him (Dwight) one bit.

It's tactics and coaching. The attacker in him has been nullified by dour tactics, not necessarily today, I mean all season.

We constantly boot the ball up, or Taylor overlaps how.

Dwight needs to be given attacking remit.

Strange that out of eleven players you pick out the one who’s been our best.

Have to find a scapegoat
Tarkowski at fault with first with a shocking pass
Taylor with second as he on wrong side of his man who scored easily
Two shocking howlers and not our usual defensive capabilities

What's this obsession with one footed players?

Ryan Giggs was one footed. Didn't work out too badly for him.

I can’t believe what I’m reading! I thought that he was having a good game. Just whipped in two impossible crosses. I’d go as far as to say he was Burnley’s stand out player so far.

Exactly. Some awful defending and yet someone feels the need to highlight McNeil.

Good idea let's drop our only attacking threat and get another grafter in there.

Nothing disingenuous about this thread, just subtle as an air raid and certainly no surprise who the OP is.

Decent enough first half from Dwight.

Opposition teams have learned to double up and push Dwight onto his right foot. This is why he now ends up going backwards a lot. This should in theory open up other pockets of space on the field.
Unfortunately we always look at the safe sideways pass particularly in the centre of the park and the spaces are closed off before we act. I had hoped Brownhill would help us start moving the ball through the centre of the park a little more but it's not come yet.

Lay off McNeil, he is far from the problem. If people are expecting him to win matches by himself each week, wake up!

I think that the OP must be having a laugh or just trying to wind people up. Unnecessary and stupid.

McNeil does frustrate me at times due to him being so left sided, but to be fair he is our only midfielder capable of creating anything special

He is targeted by the opposition because they know he is our only creative player, who can take a man on and deliver a mean cross into the box

It’s the fact he keeps rotating on his left and sometimes gets himself in trouble because he just won’t use his right foot. Of course there’s nothing wrong with being one footed, just annoying when that happens.

If he could skin men with both feet United wouldn't have released him.

Give it a rest. If we had a few other players who can keep the ball down he’d get a bit of a breather, he has a lot of responsibility and has done ever since he broke into the team!

Didn’t see today’s game but ideally he wouldn’ t have played so many games and would be rested. We have no other options though and that’s the Chairman’s fault not McNeil’s. He’s a young lad making his way and should be encouraged. There are far weaker areas of the team to focus on.

There seems to be an acceptance that its Man City and we are going to get a tonking, but thats OK. Frankly I thought today we were abysmal. We had several 5 minute patches where we showed what is possible. I ask myself, would WBA, Fulham or Sheff Utd have been as poor today. The only player who looked like he could live with them was McNeil. Sadly it showed that we are a very poor team, with some particularly poor players. The goal keeper could have let 8 in-I think he only made one save and then pushed it into his net. Very poor at coming out for through balls. Bardsley must play next game, Lowton has had too many chances and just not a PL full back

Had I been a supporter of a League 1 side and had they played like that I would have been disappointed

This is the worst thing. Several times he had the option the cross, and his first reactions are either pass it backwards, or take it towards the corner with zero chance of getting it out. Just cross the fecking thing early!!!!!
