Re: Lewis Hamilton tests positive...
Will merc bother running a 2nd car?
Would be nice to see Russell in it but I doubt that will happen.
Vandoorne seems the likely choice as he's their reserve driver, possibly Gutierrez
Abu Dhabi is the week after but I think Hamilton should be back by then.

This will prove that its the car and not Hamilton that is the reason he always wins. When his replacement inevitably wins the next race!

Quite correct. It's such a deadly virus that he was most likely able to win a Grand Prix race whilst suffering from it! I still can't get my head around why we have shut down the bloody world because of it

Why do you think it’s anything to do with jealousy ?
I don’t like the sport
I don’t like Hamilton
And I don’t like people who live in tax havens so that they can accumulate £200m of wealth rather than £150m and pay £50m in taxes to the country they were happy to live in previously.
But yep I agree it’s certainly nothing illegal he is doing....and I’m sure he gives a bit to charity too.

He has had 36 races in his career with a best ever finish of 11th and the only driver not to score a point in 2019.

Re: Lewis Hamilton tests positive...
He was he best driver in F2 but got the worst possible F1 drive.
I don't know if he can achieve much this weekend, probably a few points, depends how quickly he can get to grips with the car. If he were in this car against Bottas over the course of a season, hes definitely be picking up wins
Never doubted he would be an F1 champ one day, let's see how his big day comes off. Very excited to see this!

I like the look of Russell, he has drove well in a poor Williams car. Can't see him winning this weekend, more likely Bottas or Verstappen as it takes time to get used to a new car but he has tested the Mercedes car this season so you never know.

Russell is banged to rights to get his first F1 victory this weekend according to most on here its Hamilton's car thats the star not Hamilton.....you just jump in car 44 and it drives itself .claretburns wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 9:12 pmI like the look of Russell, he has drove well in a poor Williams car. I like Hamilton and think he’s a fantastic driver, but I wish his teammate was Verstappen. As I think that might mix things up a bit. I’m all for supporting a British sportsman, but it gets a bit dull when the outcome of the race is determined pre-season.
Good luck to George Russell this weekend.

Re: Lewis Hamilton tests positive...
He might not win it, but he was the only driver not to score a single point last season and has never finished in the top 10 in 36 tries.
If he was a horse his form would read 000000000000000000000000000000000000 so it would be a bit weird to expect him to come in the first 3 next race and price him at 3/1

Russell quickest in first practice, ahead of Max, then Alex Albion and Bottas who struggled all session.

Slightly bizzare post . It’s akin to saying Russell is playing for a terrible Wycombe side ( random example ) who had somehow got in the prem but has been on the losing side 34 games out of 38 . He’s performed v well in a terrible car and though it will be very hard for him to just @get in the car and win “ the car itself should be enough to get him a podium .claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 8:28 amHe might not win it, but he was the only driver not to score a single point last season and has never finished in the top 10 in 36 tries.

Re: Lewis Hamilton tests positive...
Russell on top in practice two.
Bottas appears rattled, cannot put a lap together. Had 3 lap times deleted.
Based on sector times if Bottas could put a lap together he would be .3 seconds faster, but he would have to stay within track limits to do that.
So far Russell is showing some class in a car he has never driven.
He is having to wear size 10 boots as his size 11 will not fit in the car so his feet are being squeezed. He is having to drive with car who’s steering wheel set up is opposite to what he normally has.
Think he is doing a great job.

Just watched his post race interview.
Knows he is short on race pace and why.
Lucky to be on top of the timings and knows why.
Great attitude, hope he does well tomorrow.
Could be. Career defining weekend for him.

Youe right of course, but what distinguishes Hamilton from, let’s say Ayrton Senna (I specifically chose Senna of course) is that Senna would have tried in the Metro and done well. Senna learnt to drive a jeep without using the clutch at the age of 7. Hamilton is a special driver, agreed, but he’s not in the same class as Senna IMOLowbankclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 8:26 pmWell obviously it plays it’s part, even Lewis could not win in a mini metro.

How can he not be in the same class as Senna? He may not be as good as Senna was, there’s no way to prove that other than by respective achievements, and they are in Hamilton’s favour.Zlatan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 8:50 pmYoue right of course, but what distinguishes Hamilton from, let’s say Ayrton Senna (I specifically chose Senna of course) is that Senna would have tried in the Metro and done well. Each era is different.
Mansell drove cars that would kill a normal man at every corner.
Fuel management, tyre management etc is a bit of a new thing, Australia not with standing as if Mansell had changed tyres he would have world champion.
It’s has become a bit of computer game rather than a raw driver ability.

I did say IMO. I’ve watched Senna do some real bloody amazing driving in cars nowhere near as easy to drive as current day F1 (fly by wire) cars. In the modern era, with these cars - Senna would be head and shoulders above all others... in my opinion of course
