Formula One
What I know about Formula 1 you could write on the back of a stamp but what I do know is Lewis Hamilton is a cock and this young lad George Russell, who finished 12th last week has blown everybody away this week driving Hamilton’s car.
Hamilton is a fraud. His car is the champion not him

Please give me one good reason why Hamilton is a cock. Or is it cos he’s young, wealthy and black?MRG wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 12:45 pmWhat I know about Formula 1 you could write on the back of a stamp but what I do know is Lewis Hamilton is a cock and this young lad George Russell, who finished 12th last week has blown everybody away this week driving Hamilton’s car.

For that very reason, he has told you enough times that there is an issue with his skin colour that it’s now a thing. One of the most privileged people of our time who is trying to convince you he is unprivileged. Re: Formula One
Let's see where Russell comes in the actual race before jumping to conclusions, yes he had a good qualifying session, but it's the race that counts.

Re: Formula One
I don’t a lot about F1 but I have been watching it for 30 years.
I don’t like Hamilton as a person.
As a driver he is immense. I don’t remember him crashing into another championship rival driver to make sure he took more points or won a championship.
Something Schumacher, Prost and Senna all did.
He is a great driver, no doubt about that.

Re: Formula One
Russell's race to lose from here, maybe it is the car after all.
A question for the F1 experts, who was the last driver to win on their debut for a new team?

Re: Formula One
I’d like to see Russell win this race, one might argue that if Lewis and Valteri have the fastest cars it only proves Lewis is a better driver than Valteri.
And with Russell currently leading, looks like he’s better than Bottas too.

Re: Formula One
Agreed, 8 second lead now and can run to the end of the race on hard tyres.
I remember Schumacher jumping in the Jordan and being way faster than it was before. But don’t think he won.
Sounds like his car is starting to have issues, hope he doesn’t brake down.

Really feel for Russell here.

Re: Formula One
Huw , we have enough arguments about skin colour. Is there any chance we can judge a person’s opinion on someone who is black ( or any colour) without immediately throwing it in when countering.
I think the sooner we learn to do this the quicker we can get more people on board good causes.

Re: Formula One
Great result for Perez though - pleased for him, no seat next year yet.
Re: Formula One
Russell should be very proud of himself. Great effort and would have won comfortably but for factors outside his control.

Apologies if it offends but I don’t see where he has done anything wrong in his life to upset people apart from being wealthy and black. The reply to me above is just ignorance. He is campaigning Black Lives Matter and the responder is transferring that to My Life Matters.Elizabeth wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 6:46 pmHuw , we have enough arguments about skin colour. This the sort of crap he gets coated in all the time. As somebody else has posted above he just gets on with winning. He has never cheated like the other famous drivers mentioned to win any of his titles and he deserves more credit for that.
Re: Formula One
It’s a shame he got the puncture, would have loved to see him win the race. That’s the difference between a relative rookie and an experienced driver in the best car. The more experienced would have nursed the tyres. Invaluable experience for Russell though, in that car (perhaps sooner than we think) he’ll be a good challenger for Hamilton.

Re: Formula One
Today probably seals the deal for Hamilton getting the BBC SPOTY award. Any doubters who thought any old Tom, Dick or Harry could just hop in Hamilton's car and win the race have been categorically proved wrong.
The result today just demonstrates that whilst Hamilton has the best car he is also an immensely talented driver up there with the greats of Formula 1 racing

Re: Formula One
Most entertaining race I have seen for some time but poor old Russell, without a puncture he would have been 2nd at worst. Bottas has just been shown up as not good enough to drive the Merc.
Re: Formula One
That is dangerous ground there, what if I don’t like him (and I’ve met him) because I just think he’s a dick? Am I not allowed to have that opinion of someone just in case it offends others on his behalf? (I am trying to word this carefully as it is referencing a banned topic)huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 6:58 pmApologies if it offends but I don’t see where he has done anything wrong in his life to upset people apart from being wealthy and black. Re: Formula One
He is a great driver and usually in F1 when a driver dominates like he is doing the argument of whether it’s the driver or car that is the reason. I remember it happened with Schumacher and probably other world champions.
You’d have to live on another planet not to know there is a big power struggle , especially in this country , over the colour issue you brought up. I don’t think you need to apologise for feeling Hamilton’s colour and support of certain movements affects some people’s attitude to him. It does.
I posted because I think we’d all be a lot happier discussing people’s skills and merits and leave it at that. I’m certainly not picking out your post alone because that would not be fair.
