Lingard anyone ?
Re: Lingard anyone ?
People are better off learning about his private life and his recent struggles before being overly critical.

Re: Lingard anyone ?
I dont really agree with most of what you say but thats fine its your opinion and Im not convinced Lingard would do the business and not that bothered cos my point was nothing to do with what you are talking abouttiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 4:48 pmLingard has the skills, I don't think anyone on here is denying that, the big concern for me is would he have the stomach for a relegation scrap, because if he joined us that's what he'd be facing, certainly this season anyway, and having played the majority of his career at a team that expect to win trophies and compete near the top of the league, a survival battle would require a different mentality.
Look ultimately the decision is Sean's, and if he thinks Lingard could add that extra quality to perhaps turn the draws into wins, then who are we to doubt him, I still think it's a moot point anyhow as I can't see Lingard rocking up at the turf anytime soon.
The assets he could bring are he can play left or right, but if we signed him on loan will Sean play him?, our track record on loans isn't brilliant recently especially with wingers, and the last thing we want is a bench warmer earning big bucks, we had that when Hart was here in his last season.
I was just criticising this '"not a Dyche type player" mentality some of our fans have cos it is very negative, defeatist and doesnt give Dyche the credit he deserves.
Now feel free to agree or disagree on this but in the politest way if your point is more about Lingards ability then we are talking about different things so why we are quoting each other I dont really know

I don't no why anyone is speculating over any future transfer activities whilst we have the present lot in charge

Yep, think we need a takeover before talking about signings!Top Claret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 5:07 pmI don't no why anyone is speculating over any future transfer activities whilst we have the present lot in charge
I'd take him on loan. I'm not a fan of his social media antics, but he certainly has a personality and is hard working. If he were prepared to come here and knuckle down for second half of the season, I'd take him.
Agree with others that there will be much bigger clubs in for him so no chance really. Our only hope is that he wouldn't want to move, but suspect the London lifestyle is very appealing to him.

Re: Lingard anyone ?
If he can play more than one game in a row he’ll be better than our other options on the right, I’d put Brady back on the left get him used to his favourite position again.
I see Man U after tripps, if there’s any chance we should be straight onto him about coming back would be a big boost

Re: Lingard anyone ?
A player who failed to fulfil his potential.
18 PL goals, 10 assists in 133 appearances.
Dwight has more assists in just half the appearances.
We don't create enough as it is and Lingard would have to work damned hard to improve and up his game wherever he ends up.

Think he’s on a 100k a week, Arsenal or West Ham, not Burnley. Good player when he was on it, a couple of years since he’s been anywhere near that level though.

Re: Lingard anyone ?
I'd have him like a shot i we got the chance. Having said that, we would have to change to a completely different system.
Alongside Cork and McNeil with Jay up front he would fit in. With wood and Barnes up front he wouldn't see the ball.

West ham are more likely to ask for pogba on loan for 5 years while only paying 20% of his market salary

Forget whether it is Lingard or not, is a short term loan for any player on £100k so out of our depth ?
A Jan loan for any such player would cost us around £2m - and yes there could be a fee but surely for 5 months not that much, unless we are dealing with Liverpool
Dale Stephens cost around £1m plus two year's wages on say £30k per week gives a total spend of circa £4m - nothing personal but just using the guy as an example, given he was our record signing this summer
Which would look like better value to help keep us up this season
Would the rest of the squad be so upset if it gave us a better chance of staying up and they can then stay on their current good deals

As I posted at 3.50pm today....... 200 plus appearances for Man United, 24 England Caps including World Cup appearances and goals, won Uefa Cup, Fa Cup and League Cup, (scoring in two of the finals one of them being a winner).
Think that covers it.

Re: Lingard anyone ?
We're not seriously thinking this is possible, are we?
Bloody hell, it will be a cold day in hell before Lingard signs for us. He's only entertaining the move to Real Sociedad because they're 2nd in La Liga. There's 0% chance he'll want to drop down to our level.

He’s done nothing and can’t even displace Bruno Fernandes in a crap United team.

Re: Lingard anyone ?
No love fest from me, don’t like him as an individual but find suggestions he’s ’not made it’, ‘done nothing’ and he’d not be good enough for us laughable.
They are based purely on his profile as opposed to looking objectively at what he has actually done in his career to date.

Hypothetical question, but if Lingard did sign for us who would keep him out of the team ?

Re: Lingard anyone ?
I do wonder sometimes how this honesty from Sean Dyche manifests itself. I don't doubt it's true, but sometimes the conversation must go something like "You're trying really hard to improve, but the truth is you won't get a game unless X player gets shot in the leg"
