Is it temporarily closed or for good?

I would doubt very much that it is going to re-open

Re: Claretstore - town centre
Been closed for some while now, tbh I'd just assumed it was shut for good.
Re: Claretstore - town centre
doesn't surprise me if it has shut for good, never a lot in when I walked past, and not much to look at compared to other shop at tm.

A good idea in theory, but in practice it was always in the shadow of the shop at The Turf, even more so after the (imo) cracking upgrade there

Re: Claretstore - town centre
From what I can gather the shop manager at the Turf wouldn’t let them have most of the up to date stock.
I still think there should be a shop in the town centre because it actually got more people in during the week than the shop at the Turf.
I will be surprised if it opens again.

What was the reason the manager wouldn’t?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 12:37 amFrom what I can gather the shop manager at the Turf wouldn’t let them have most of the up to date stock.

Re: Claretstore - town centre
The exterior signage at the shop in town has been removed, suggesting that it won't be reopening.
Re: Claretstore - town centre
Probably didn't want the town shop to make more money than his.
Re: Claretstore - town centre
It’s little snippets like this that makes me realise just how far we have to go with our off the field commercial activities. It’s real corner shop mentality.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 12:37 amFrom what I can gather the shop manager at the Turf wouldn’t let them have most of the up to date stock.

I’m not doubting what you say CT, but why the heck would the shop manager look at the town centre store as some sort of competitor?
We have no town centre store and the online shop is archaic.

Re: Claretstore - town centre
Surely the town centre store complemented the existing offering at the ground?
I remember there being a town centre presence on St James Street many years ago, where Subway is now.

Re: Claretstore - town centre
The shop manager is protecting his empire. To be honest stock allocation decisions should be taken at a higher level than shop manager as you are always going to choose the best for yourself and marginalise the competition. But as many have said, it just highlights the corner shop mentality that we seem to follow. Only selling replica shirts at the Turf or via an archaic website is hardly the way to grow sales is it. Might as well have Arkwright r r r running the sh sh shop.

Re: Claretstore - town centre
Its not just the playing side of the club that needs a shake up...
Re: Claretstore - town centre
If anyone has had any dealings with the shop manager at the Turf store then they will know that it is totally believable that he would not allow the range of new stock in the town centre one.
For the life of me I cannot understand why the club would allow this to happen - unless the shops were individual franchises (which I doubt very much) it’s a ridiculous situation to allow to happen.
Never ceases to amaze me how amateurish the club is ran off the pitch - stuck in the lower divisions with a lower profile you can kind of excuse it (to a degree). But awash with the most money in our history and by a distance employing the largest number of staff we have ever done it’s embarrassing.

Re: Claretstore - town centre
Usual embarrassment from our off field stuff. Couldn’t organise a pi55 up in a brewery tbh. Like others have said it’s not like we’ve been in the prem for 5 minutes now. You couldn’t see other prem clubs closing down a town centre shop.
For example, Spurs have one near the train station 10 minutes from their stadium from memory. More shops in better footfall areas mean more revenue particularly when your brand value has increased significantly over the last 5 years...very poor

I think that was the first shop in town then I think they might have been in the market hall for a time before the current shop.Sean Dyche's Watch wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 12:35 pmSurely the town centre store complemented the existing offering at the ground?

I think there should a town centre shop. I know things are a bit different right now but in normal world it seems silly not to have a shop in town coming up to Christmas.
