Leeds vs Hammers
I wasn't aware but Bielsa apparently named his team on Wednesday, will that prove a masterstroke or a mistake?

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Interestingly for all the talk about how well Leeds have done on their PL return, they only have 1 home win to their name, so the Hammers have every chance of a result tonight.

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Their defence is certainly suspect. They don't like teams hunting them down either, which is why I really do hope we get at them when we play them on the 27th. Press! Press! Press!

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Thought the ref was about to book Bamford for diving but, no, it's a "penalty".
One of the worst aspects of modern football.

Looks like Bielsa is on VAR as well.
Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Why isn't every penalty retaken, considering no goalkeeper stays on their line?

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Klich is a lucky boy getting a second bite at the cherry, horrendous penalty first time, the ref spared his blushes there.

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
I thought it was still a red card if thereβs no attempt to play the ball?
Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Depends on the situation. Pickford should've been sent off for his ridiculous challenge on VVD.

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Isn't it the 'double jeopardy' ruling?
Can't have a pen and a red for the same incident. So long as it's 'accidental', of course.

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
I wasnβt watching the game so not claiming he tried to play the ball. I was just clarifying that my understanding of the rule was that if a penalty is given, a player will only be sent off if there was no attempt to play the ball, or in the case of dangerous play.
Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Yes a deliberate foul would mean penalty, red card and suspension.Rileybobs wrote: βFri Dec 11, 2020 8:22 pmI wasnβt watching the game so not claiming he tried to play the ball. Re: Leeds vs Hammers
OK to explain the laws of the game.
Double jeopardy only applies in a Denying an obvious goal scoring.opportunity. (DOGSO)
The goal keeper came out to make a genuine attempt to play the ball however, quick feet of the striker made that impossible and thusninvited the keeper to bring him down.
The punishment has to be penalty yellow card.
Another scenario. Striker has control of the ball in the area and gone past the keeper he then pulls the striker back lets say around the waist. This isn't an attempt to play the ball and therefore penalty red card.
Defenders - if upper body offence then not a genuine attempt to play the ball therefore red card and penalty. If he tries to make a tackle and is deemed to be a genuine attempt then pen yellow is the decision.

Soucek is a real threat at set pieces, but what on earth was the keeper doing there hopeless.

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Looking forward to the clarets playing either these two.
Pace in behind for West ham. Start Vydra?
Sit tight counter and win set pieces against Leeds.

West Ham have got their head to every set piece. A big weakness of Leeds.

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Is this the Leeds bubble bursting? they certainly can't defend crosses that's for sure.
Re: Leeds vs Hammers
If it stays like this we will be eight points behind with two games in hand.

Re: Leeds vs Hammers
Had a wee bet on 1-2 in this at 12/1. Chickened out a few minutes after the 2nd WHU goal and cashed it in at equivalent of 9/1 though. Decent win and avoids the disappointment of another goal.
